As if there isn't enough...to sheila

Straight people don't have to shout out that they are; they get to shout with every action. They get to kiss and hug their baby without any questions ask, they get to say their vows and pledge their love without any questions asked, they get to raise children without any questions asked, and they get to talk about their lives without any questions asked. Unfortunately, gays do not have these basic normalcies of life and so have to find a way to "earn" them.

I know others have said mean things to you, but honestly that is not the way to go about correcting wrongs.

I hope you understand other people's viewpoints.

What a truly sad story, when people think of america they think of the land of the free. Is this truly free? A 15 year old boy being murdered just because he likes other boys? You have a long way to go America. I'm from the UK and although I was bullied at school for my sexuality I have never heard of a boy been murdered because of his sexuality. America considers itself to be liberal, democratic, and maybe its just a small minority who aare again homosexuals and other minority groups but come on, you go on and on and on about values, well start by doing it yourself. How many 15 year olds have to be murdered for you to realise that your country in going down a path that will be very hard to get back on track. Vote for someone who actually believes in that every person in your country has the rights as eachother and that no one is treated different. Its a shame, when I was in my teens, I had always wanted to move to america as i thought it was more liberal and accepting than the UK, how wrong was I.

Dear Ellen,

I am doing a paper on same-sex marriage in the US and i was wondering what are your veiws on legalizing same-sex marriage in the US?

Dear Sheila White,
One of the many reasons that Ellen talks about events like this is because they can be prevented with education. Not much education will stop random acts of violence, but when we teach our kids that being gay is okay, the hate goes down and with it, the violence.
Also, it's her show - freedom of press.

stfu sheila white! geez. your comment is ridiculous and ignorant!...

It is such a great tragedy / loss when someone who opens up about who they are gets discriminated because society still has a way of thinking it is not right.

Homosexuality is normal and should be accepted in today's world. Sadly it is not.

My heart goes out to all those affected by discrimination for who they are, in this case being gay.

Larry you will be remembered! You celebrated life the best way you knew how, and I am sorry an innocent gesture was a nightmare in the end. I hope this Brandon punk learns from this and speaks out and sees there is more to life than being a selfish dumbassed prick!!!

Sheila White - mind your own business it's her show and she gets the right to run it how she wants. if you don't like it don't watch!! She doesn't need people like you anymore.

Go get your own soap box and spout off about stuff you find important.

Ellen knows all about discrimination and she gets to speak on it however she wants to.

God Bless you Ellen!

UGH!

Sheila White, the other kids you talk about get killed because they bring it upon themselves, but getting involved with drugs, and others are attacked by people who are mentally unstable.

There was absolutely no reason for this to happen, obviously the kid who did it, is very ignorant, who knows, but you can't compare this to other murders.

Please get your head checked.

Hey--I am a bit of an addict when it comes to facebook and I am a college student at MSUM. First of all, that I found out about the death of Larry King on a friends facebook and NOT on national headlines makes me SO angry--but being a college student i guess that the fault goes both ways. Second. On April 25 there is a day of silence. A day of to protest the bullying and harassment of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) students, and their supporters. Students take a day-long vow of silence to symbolically represent the silencing of LGBT students and their supporters.

This is the OFFICIAL day as hosted by GLSEN. I just want you to know that I am straight--but I will not speak. I will not speak One Word. I'm getting some people together to make Gay is Okay shirts and we are taping our mouths shut for the majority of the day with duct tape. I hope that everyone reads my post. I also hope that one day everything will truly be okay.

First thing is that this is truly a tragedy. I decided to email all my friends send them the link to Ellen regarding this as well as the news article I found. Here is what I sent to all my friends on my contact list:
This is very dear to my heart because as a gay man who has struggled all of my life for being gay. I did not come out until 30. The time spent in the closet has not been easy. This, as Ellen said, should never have happened. We need to make our voices heard straight, gay and alike. Being murdered for being different is simply UNACCEPTABLE. Pass this email on to as many people you know. It is my prayer and hope that this will make it to Washington and changes will be made. I am so thankful everyday that I live in a country (Canada) that recognizes same sex couples and marriages. We celebrate our diversity and embrace it. The message of tolerance has got to be preached and proclaimed everywhere. Therefore, I join Ellen in her efforts and want to say thank God for this message to be spread everywhere. My heart goes out to both families since their lives have forever been changed. THIS SHOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED!! Pass it on!!

This is an after thought that I am now adding. When is enough, enough? I am saying it now ENOUGH ALREADY. How many more gay or lesbian people have to die before things change. Let all of our voices be heard loud and strong to the government and say THIS IS WHERE IT ENDS. HERE AND NOW!!

Thank you Ellen for bring this to my attention since I did not see anything on the news. In actuality why am I not surprised after all it was just another gay kid right. He is not important. This is why our voices needs to be heard we have a voice and this is a passion of mine to stop the violence.

Thanks again Ellen love you show and hope to come visit sometime soon. You certainly keep me laughing and I thank God for you.

dear sheila white
When was the last time time someone said your life wasn't worth living because you are straght. We as heterosexuals have never been discriminated against for that and maybe homosexual people would stop yelling that they are gay, if their cries were heard in washington. don't teach hate, love is for everyone.

Dear Ellen,

I want to say thank you so much for you words! I Feel the same way about this issue and I to wish that this world can become a better place! I Hope that we the people can make this world a better place for EVERYONE no matter what!

From the tragedy of young Larry King, so many of us were touched by your comments and the unnecessary cruelness, hate and anger in the world. The anguish both families must be going through has to be tremendously sad and painful. Many people were touched by your courage, the necessity to speak out, and reminding us ("the viewer") it didn't need to end this way. Your message came through strong -- it was from the heart. Thank you for being a truly warm and inspirational person! You spread much joy and sunshine into people's hearts daily. We record your program so I can watch it after work -- yep hubby is as big a fan as I am! Thank you for being you and giving to us!!

hi ellen!!
i watch your show daily and you always enlighten me and make me smile but on this day my smiles were turned into tears-the day that i heard that a person was killed because of his sexual orientation-his name i did not remember nor his age-to me these things are meaningless-all i could grasp was that a young mans life was now over because. . .there is no reason- i am not gay but i have so many homosexual people in my life who are near and dear to my heart and imagining what a great loss it would be if they were taken from me in a manner such as this made me sick to my stomach-i am a black female so i know what its like to be discriminated aganist for something that i cannot change(and i wouldnt want to even if i could)and i would just like to say that your strength and courage is inspiring-THANK YOU for being a beacon of light and truth-courage and wisdom-love and hope-THANK YOU

to Sheila White

just one question, what would you say if you happen to have a gay daughter or son and watch your baby shot in the head, not once but twice? do you still think it is unnecesary to talk about this issues and how gay people are discriminated all over the world? think about that. you hurt not only my feelings but the feelings of millions of people out there who strugle to make this world a better place. and does that mean we have to stay in the closed in order to stay alive?!!!!!! ......

and one message to Ellen,
my dear, you are the best, keep doing what your doing, love ya,

Dear Ellen,

I was so sad to hear what happened to poor Larry King, what you said needed to be said by someone, and I am glad that you did. I am truly out raged that the news covered Anna Nicole Smith like crazy, and did not mention this poor boy.

I am in my school's GSA, and one of our goals is to stop hate crimes like this.

RIP Larry King.

Hi Ellen, I saw your show about what happened to Larry King....
I'm sorry, I have so much to say about this topic that it brings me to tears. All I can say is this is the reason why I hate listening to the news. This world is filled with so much hate and uglyness and it's our children who have to suffer. This makes me fearful for my to young boys. Are they going to me picked on because their mother is mexican? Or if they are gay are they going to be bullied or maybe suffer the same tragic end as Larry. My heart goes out to Larry Kings family and friends. I'm sorry they had to go though this terrible event.

R.I.P Larry King
