Sen. Obama On Iraq War Vote, 2006

"So it’s not clear to me what differences we’ve had since I’ve been in the Senate. I think what people might point to is our different assessments of the war in Iraq, although I’m always careful to say that I was NOT in the Senate, so perhaps the reason I thought it was such a bad idea was that I didn’t have the benefit of U.S. intelligence. And, for those who did, it might have led to a different set of choices. So that might be something that sort of is obvious. But, again, we were in different circumstances at that time: I was running for the U.S. Senate, she had to take a vote, and casting votes is always a difficult test." [The New Yorker, 10/30/06]

"Not only was the idea of an invasion increasingly popular, but on the merits I didn't consider the case against war to be cut-and- dried." ["Audacity of Hope," 2006, p. 294]

Some of the comments in this discussion seemingly represent some sort of delusion.

Senator Hillary Clinton has accepted more money from defense contractors than any other candidate, Republican or Democrat. She's a hawk and has always been one. Remember that she was among those who gave Bush the 2002 authorization to invade Iraq in the first place, while Senator Barack Obama was arguing against what he referred to as a "dumb war" at the time. He predicted all the problems that we eventually did encounter, and he expressed his skepticism about the Bush administration's case for war from the very beginning.

Moreover, while Senator Clinton has been funded by the very moneyed interests she now laughably says she will fight against, Senator Obama refused, from the outset, to accept any contributions from PAC's and federal lobbyists.

Democrats should remember how they lost the 2004 election. Senator Clinton will be painted as another "flip-flopper" who supported the war until it became politically-inconvenient to do so.

Senator Obama, conversely, can argue that the country should not expect Clinton and McCain, who drove the bus into the ditch, to be able to drive the bus out. Obama's judgment and wisdom, on this and several other issues, is demonstrably superior to all the other Republican and Democratic candidates.

Hillary R. Clinton is by far the ONLY viable candidate in this general Presidential election. Hillary is focused and determined to bring our troops back home, use international diplomacy to begin to heal the angst that Bush has created throughout the WORLD, to create more jobs here in the U.S., and clean out the House from the stench the former President has left! Hillary is this country's only HOPE!

Barack Hussein Obama and John McCain advocate the same principles that the Bush Administration represent. Obama and MCain want to continue WAGING an eternal WAR on terror. Obama tells his constituents/voters one thing and has absolutely NO intention on following through. WAR is NOT the answer...

Our ECONOMY is bleeding to DEATH! How much more can the U.S. Economy take? NOT MUCH! We NEED to take care of OUR home/backyard first before we continue fixing/straightening up everyone else house!

Sorry I had such a hard time posting, but please read my first comment at 1:13am and then second at 1:37am... make your video showing your support for Hillary at the hillaryspeaksforme(dot)com website; come on let's get out there and fight!!!

hillaryclinton(dot)com

She needs us like this country needed her yesterday, today and tomorrow!!! She is our WARRIOR and we need to be her soldiers and help in every way we can... post the links everywhere, email your friends, email the news media, email the cowards political supporter who are abandoning her! Let's show the media that they counted her out too soon!

hillaryspeaksforme(dot)com/

(go to youtube and search for "Smiling man saying vote for me-Hillary Clinton music video")

this website is not letting post with links so I had to put (dot) but you know it should be .com

Hillary Rodham Clinton you are ONE AMAZING WOMAN!!! I am TIRED and ANGRY! We should no longer let our country treat women like second class citizen's... Let's tell the media that they cannot shove the other candidate down our throats and we will not stand for this! Also, how dare the other candidate put the photo out of himself wearing the kenyan garb of his country and cast the blame on Hills campaign; trust me there is a lot of things going on that is not right and we need to fight!

Polls that do not limit the voter to one single vote cannot be accurate of the public's true view. Since you can vote over and over in this poll I don't put much weight to it as it's flawed.

If Senator Clinton continues to pursue this less-than-dignified end game, I have a feeling she may set the Feminist movement back several decades.

She's gone from saying that she felt honored to be campaigning with Senator Obama to saying that he should be ashamed of himself to saying that Obama voters should be ashamed of themselves to saying that the news media should be ashamed of themselves. When does she look in the mirror and realize that she managed her campaign poorly?

For someone who continues to insist that she'll be ready on Day One, she didn't have a plan or a strategy beyond Super Tuesday on February 5th. She needs to take responsibility for that colossal failure. Americans are not just going to coronate her because she happened to be married to Bill Clinton.

Not many wants to see Hillary Clinton win because she is a intelligent strong woman...Sorry America....You are so blind....Don't believe it....Look around you...Vote for someone else if you like what you see....

We have already done STUPID in the White House...Are you ready to do diapers in the White House?(One in the crib or the other in the nursing home) DIAPERS will cost America as much as STUPID has......

Hillary Clinton for President!

The baseless antipathy in this discussion that has been directed towards Senator Obama reveals more about the person, or persons, who hold said antipathy because, for the life of me, I can't think of a rational reason anyone would find him offensive to their sensibilities.

One might disagree with some of his policy positions, but he has conducted himself throughout this campaign with respectfulness and graciousness.

Senator Clinton said she was honored to be campaigning with him, and, a couple of days later, she launches this vitriolic "shame-on-you" attack that said his mailings were misstating her positions. But, she, herself, has said that her health-care plan forces people to buy insurance, and she has also said that she would possibly garnish wages to do so. Massachusetts has a very similar plan, and scores of that state's middle-income residents were being fined because they couldn't afford the insurance.

Similarly, Senator Clinton stated during her Senatorial campaign, "I think on balance NAFTA has been good for New York and America." So, where is the misrepresentation? The shame should fall on Senator Clinton for trying to distract Ohio and Texas voters from the fact that her campaign does force people to purchase health insurance and from the fact that, before running for President, she thought NAFTA was a better deal for Americans than she believes it is now.

Obama + McCain=McCain MANY MANY other democratic voters including myself & my husband will for the first time in our lives vote Republican if Obama is the Democratic candidate this November!

Obama= change, unity, future, won 23 states, only one to beat McCain in Nov., attracts dems, indep and republic

Clinton= same ol, divisive, past, won 11 states (3-4 VERY close), would lose to McCain, only attracts some dems

If you are a Democrat and don't want another Republic starting more wars and weakening our economy...

Let's support Obama and take back the White House in November!!

For all you Obama voters go ahead you may get what you ask for CHANGE.Have you ever thought how much change can hurt.If not think about
all the things in your life that has changed.I feel it will be things you wanted to change, and now you wish you could take it back.I feel if you keep falling for this man you will get hurt.I will gladly vote for Hillary . I do know what she is about .I do not feel I will be surprised after the fall that Barack will make.I feel you should go to his pastor Wright's page and read the 12 black rules for his church. Please click below the pastors Wright's picture and click on the black rules for being a member. This is hard to call a church ,I call it a black klu klux klan .Hey, if you are a so called minestry there are no tax. GO FIGURE!

Ellen

I will vote for Hillary Clinton. We do not want a

naive president again.

I have a feeling that Obama will be the G w Bush

of the Democratic Party.

I just do not like this guy. Trust me I have

very good intuitions.

I used to be a Hillary fan but she lost me when she started adopting the attack-dog tactics that she (rightly) condemned her critics for using. I know some people who work on her campaign and even they are uncomfortable with such unseemly strategies. Look how it's ended up polarizing the people on this page. It's not worth it! It hurts us as a country.

I think all the comments and hits on Obama is a little over the edge. he will make a great president!!!!! Hillary, McCain and everyone else that has throwed punches towards Senator Obama needs to sit down. Think like the above comments is the reason the US is like it is right now. Obama all the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will keep the rest of my comments to myself and just pray for those that have been saying or thinking evil thoughts against Mr. Obama. Oh, by the way I'm from TX.

I will NOT vote for Barack if he gets the nomination. I think he is arrogant and sounds like a preacher. Hillary has the most expierence and will clean house like a good mother and wife. America is her husband and Americans are her children. The majority of wives and mothers will protect and nurture their husbands and children to make sure they are governed correctly. She will be the one to bring this country back to superiority and respect that we deserve.

Please Texas, Ohio VOTE HILLARY.

P.S. Those of you who believe she is unfit because of Bill. Well, I just say you feel that way because you haven't found out yet about your spouces.

Thanks, Ellen for supporting Hillary.
Maybe, we'll see each other at the White House.

Obama makes campaigning seem effortless. He takes tough questions all the time, but doesn't turn it into a battle with the media the way Clinton does. As a result, he has a better relationship.

I Have always voted democrat
But if that guy beats Hillary

I WILL VOTE FOR MCCAIN

Now thats a shame
