Next Story: And the Oscar Pool Party Prizes Go To......
Soldierette you need to check YOUR bigotry at the door. How can you stand on your soap box while still flinging mud? While I firmly agree that a president should never be picked on race/gender and other trivial matters - you are just as prejudice!!! You state that hateful behavior is reserved to the Republican party and is somehow beyond the Democrats???! What are you smoking? Must be mind blowing! The Democratic party has historically been the most racist/hateful of all. Read a book. It was founded by slave owners, supported and expanded slavery, and until WWII was supported by the KKK. It was Lincoln - a Republican - who freed the slaves. Get your facts straight and do not be so hateful toward Republicans - we love America just as much as you, probably more b/c instead of being devisive and hateful the majority of Republicans I know would never post something so narrow minded and uninformed about their fellow Americans.
Hey Princess, What the heck was going to happen to us the next day, or two days, three days, a week, a month after the towers fell? Don't cha think you might want to take a day or two, to read the damn intelligence report before deciding to give the ok to sponsor so many lost lives. If Hillary didn't read the report then she had no idea of what she in fact was doing. And that is CRYSTAL CLEAR to me. Obama made an intelligent decision, in or out - it doesn't matter. He never wavered. And by the way, I would vote everytime to give money to our troops who are in danger. He is correct there too. Those men and women need to be fully supported and no way, no way would I withhold it when they are fighting for me and us. The double standard people make saying he is seasawing is a bunch of BS! He knows exactly what the right thing to do is. It's to support the troops as long as they are there, period. Hillary is a very corrupt person and they are a very dangerous family. Have you even researched the fact that soo many people connected to their politics have disappeared or committed suicide or simply been murdered. 10 - 20 - 30 - 40 - 50 people? How many do you want? Where should I stop?! I think all of you who vote for her are very uninformed and sorry if you're offended; highly delusional. You are not looking at your candidates specs. Princess, please come up with something better than that! Obama '08'
Anonymous, American's are really on the verge of being titled stupid. If all the other presidents who looked presidential and had the so-called electability status, why were 98% of them unsatisfactory? Like Obama said in plain english (paraphrase) ' If you keep doing the same things, don't complain when you get the same results.' Keep voting for the perfect picture president and you'll see the same fire again and again. I'm black, so struggle, hard work and being treated unfairly is
Linda, What a cop-out. Hillary knew like everybody else on capitol hill that there was enough doubt about Saddam's WMD's and could plainly see that GWB wanted to avenge the attempt on his father's life among other twisted things. (And that wouldn't have happened had he not had his butt in their country). Furthermore, me and my whole family knew that there were no WMD's and had been enough inspectors not finding WMD's and saying repeatedly so, to find plenty of doubt. That's why we are in this war mess now, because there are many people including yourself that want to give these idiots a pass on it and try to make the case that these so-called highly intelligent, razor sharp Washington elites, were mislead, pure rubbish! I think the country is getting the effects from all the negative causes They've made in the past and the future effects to be even worse because no-one has the BALLS to impeach and jail the folks who need to be in jail. I wish I had the power because I'd do the right thing and punish them to the FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW and then some. Oh I forgot, some of us no longer follow our laws anymore and the public is too scared and weak to inforce anything but our own selfish intrest. So soon our country will resemble a scene off of the Terminator, and then many will cry, wine and complain or simply die in a rain of warheads. There's nothing we can do to stop those Washington elites. Pathetic commentary and so goes the country. And I'm no crazy. The truth is what this country continues to run from and it is all starting to come out. And if you think I am crazy, I was right about everything else so, Stay tuned...
I sent a post in and it was not posted. I had put a lot of work into it and made references (which I identified).
I will try to say it simply and in my own words.
Hillary speaks for me.
A man, even a priveleged man of color, is a patriarch. His leadership does not in any way show change to me.
A woman's sensibility is something that will create huge change. The changes we desire will be matter of fact, because a true feminist woman (like Hillary Clinton) cannot abandon her core committment to bargain with the old boys.
Hillary will change this country, because she will work harder than you or I are capable of or willing to work to create the social change that she has been committed to and working towards and visualizing since she was a very young woman.
If you truly are for change, and this is not a rhetorical campaign slogan to keep men in power, then vote for Hillary.
If you want the bargaining of the powerful male dominated lobbies to stop, vote for Hillary.
If you don't want to play into the hands of the republicans who have once again set the liberals into a struggle to choose between one oppressed group and another, pushing with all of their amassed power to make the man of color win, a person they know cannot win against McCain, vote for Hillary. Please do not underestimate the viciousness and the deliberateness of the right wing power machine in this country. It is not something that anyone wants to believe in, always wanting to see only the good in people. But when you get active in politics and get up close it is very ugly and you become aware of the power struggle and to what ends people will go to in order to win. I have seen even democrats play this game. But I have never seen the ugliness of the intentional machine the republicans started to build first around the time of the ERA and then with a big push against Planned Parenthood and other proponents of Choice.
We used to laugh when put in this position by the right wing. It is not funny anymore. The future of our world and of our children is at stake. Please wake up before it's too late.
Linda,
You make good & true points!
Thank you!
And one thing people should listen to you about is the fact that Hillary does not mislead us!
Good for you Linda!
This comment has nothing to do with race or gender.Stop ,take a look at Hillary and Baracks voting average on important issues.I noticed Barack just wants to say present and never put in a vote .Barack has ties to Islamic leaders we cannot ingore .Barack does not have his hand on his heart during the National Anthem when all the other canidates do respect and believe in America.I feel it is important to respect America, and I saw the picture. Now I am not saying he does not respect America ,but he needed to a the least show his patriotism.I do not think you should be in a church that only has black value system what about the people value system not a raciest system.Well at the end of the day Hillary does have issues also, but she has a lot of experience .Yes ,she voted on going into Iraq , but I feel Hillary, Ted Kennedy , and all the others were mislead. When you are president you will not be mislead , you will be the misleader .I feel Hillary will be forth right with the country .I do not see her misleading you and I.There will be another election in four years ,give her the chance she has worked so hard for .I felt like going to the poles and if beside the name was re-lect then picking another person.I will not do this however ,but I will take a strong look at their progress forward and then decide. Please use your time wisely and vote after studing the canidate.
I'm appalled at arguments like "his name sounds like a terrorist." This is blatant bigotry and it has no place in a modern America.
To All of you who think Obama is the answer~
Lets think about this-
I don't care about race or gender-
What I do care about is this country for the future of our children and grandchildren!
So look in the face of Obama- what do you see???
I see someone very scary!!
I mean his name sounds like a Terrorist!
He smokes- nice role model for our children!
His wife feels this has been too much stress already on their family so she said if he doesnt win this time they wont do it again!???
Look at his beliefs~
I mean the real beliefs not the ones he just invented since running for President??
I think you whom plan to vote for him have been hypnotised! Wake up PEOPLE!!!
If you dont wont to vote for Hillary or McCain then fine! But dont vote at all then!
Electability should be foremost in the minds of voters come this Tuesday. Senator Obama beats Senator McCain in every poll by wide margins that are far superior to those in head-to-head polls between the presumptive Republican nominee and Senator Clinton. In many of them, McCain actually beats Clinton.
Senator Obama presents Democrats with the chance to redraw the political map. Democrats need to realize that a Democratic President has not won the office by more than 50.1% in more than forty years. The party has been permanently marginalized, but Obama has shown that he can appeal to independents and disaffected Republicans. Senator Clinton seems to be happy maintaining her partisanship, instead of adopting Senator Obama's rejection of ideology in favor of common-sense policies, like being open to experimenting with charter schools and school vouchers, for instance.
When did the race for the Presidency become simply about gender and/or race? This just shows that some in this country aren't ready to move past these divisive ways of thinking (and writing) and move on to the REAL issues that face us all, black, white, yellow or red!
I find it offensive and pathetic that the REAL America is now standing up and actually screaming from the top of their lungs... we want a woman or we don't want a black person running our country. It's making me sick to my stomach how much racism and hatred and bigotry there STILL is in this country. You ALL should be ASHAMED of yourselves and CHECK YOUR BIGOTRY AT THE BORDER because...
DEMOCRATS DO NOT ACT LIKE THIS... SAVE IT FOR THE REPUBLICAN PARTY WHO IS NOTORIOUS FOR THEIR RACISM. Do you REALLY belong in the Democratic Party?
You women who are "supporting" Hillary Clinton need to really check your thought process, because from where I sit (as a woman), you are making Hillary look really bad by this gender-baiting and not "denouncing and rejecting" the race-baiting and outright bigotry when you see/hear it.
I want a woman to some day become President, or even Vice President, just like I want an American-American to some day become President, or Vice President, but I DO NOT want a Republican to be back in the White House ... EVER.
CHECK YOUR BIGOTRY AT THE BORDER! THIS IS THE "UNITED STATES" OF AMERICA!
Real simple, if you want a democrat in the white house vote Barack Obama. Millions of newly involved and energized voters such as myself will not vote for Hilary. I would prefer McCain. There votes on issues I feel are most important have been identical, Iraq, Iran, bankruptcy bill etc. I would prefer to have someone of honor like McCain
Billy,
That is a sad statement. You will opt for someone who intends to continue letting our kids get slaughtered because "that guy" wont the Democratic nomination?
That guy! My goodness. I would love to hear more from you. Your statement is very empty and pointless.
The level of ignorance and bigotry on this board amazes me. If you feel you cannot vote for Senator Obama because of his RACE say so, to vote Republican shows that you belong with those race and hate mongering voters. My prayers are with you and my country.
Peace OUT!
I don't recall Hillary complaining about media bias when she was the so-called frontrunner and "inevitable" nominee. She was even allowed to speak longer at the debates than the other candidates based on her frontrunner status. It wasn't until Obama's campaign kicked into high gear that she began whining about this.
Hillary should come to terms that it was poor judgement yet again that got her where she is now. Poor judgment in trusting her advisors instead of her gut instinct. Poor judgment in spending millions of dollars on advisors that have done nothing but lead her down the wrong path. Lastly, poor judgment in underestimated the power of words and how to effectively execute them.
To vote for ANY candidate based upon chromosomal makeup (XX vs XY or more skin pigment vs less skin pigment) is IGNORANT. The "younger" women supporting Barack (I'm a 31yr old mother of two and hardly consider myself a "young" woman, tho precious sheltered "don't attack her daughter!" Chelsea is only 3 years and a couple months younger than me, so maybe I AM a child - she turned 28 yesterday) aren't "anti-feminism" we're POST-feminists. Gender bears very little on our decisions regarding politicians. We look at the ISSUES and who can get them DONE.
Yes, Hillary has more experience (if you count in all her political appointments via her hubby, that is - Barack has more ELECTED experience than Hillary when you count in his time on the Illinois State Senate). What kind of experience, is the question we should be asking, especially on relevant issues? Hmm... well, on universal healthcare, she has experience from 1993 that practically handed Congress to the Republicans because of her tactics. That's relevant experience all right, relevant experience that makes me pray she DOESN'T get the nomination, or we'll be facing the risk of a stronger Republican party come 2010. Or how about her experience on the corporate board of Wal-Mart? What part did she play in the outsourcing of American factory jobs, aside from her support (until it became politically inconvenient) of NAFTA?
Another thing I find extremely concerning... I read comment sections a lot... and I see a LOT of Hillary supporters that say if Barack gets the nomination they'll vote for McCain/Nadar/write-in or stay home. Wow... if that doesn't say something about how divisive Hillary Clinton is, nothing else does. Her supporters would rather risk this country going even deeper into the craphole we're in on all fronts instead of vote for the man she was "honored" to be sharing a stage with, whose platform matches hers on almost every single issue until you start picking nits... instead you'd give support (through direct or indirect action) to the polar opposite of what you claim to support?
Maybe you people are right, maybe you DO need a "Mommy-in-Chief". My household of grown-up voters, however, will be voting on March 4 for someone who treats us like a rational adult with valid perspectives, not someone who calls anyone who doesn't agree with her "delusional"... because, you know, it works so well to negatively label your enemies, next thing you know Barack's supporters will be the new Axis of Evil. At least he's been respectful and HIS supporters aren't posting everywhere how they'd rather see McCain in office, with 100 more years in Iraq and "Bomb bomb bomb Iran" and screw anyone getting affordable health insurance unless it scores his Stepford wife some more prescription narcotics.
Why do we need to see Hillary's tax records? To know who she owes that $5mil she "lent" her campaign. Show me the money (trail).
And yes, if Hillary gets the nomination (legitimately or otherwise), I WILL vote for her come November (while holding my nose tightly) because I'm mature enough to see that even she is better than McCain. But damn I wish there was a better representative of my gender running such a strong chance of becoming president.
SPEAKING OF CORRUPTION:
"A British-Iraqi billionaire lent millions of dollars to Barack Obama's fundraiser just weeks before an imprudent land deal that has returned to haunt the presidential contender, an investigation by The Times discloses.
The money transfer raises the question of whether funds from Nadhmi Auchi, one of Britain’s wealthiest men, helped Mr Obama buy his mock Georgian mansion in Chicago.
A company related to Mr Auchi, who has a conviction for corruption in France, registered the loan to Mr Obama's bagman Antoin "Tony" Rezko on May 23 2005. Mr Auchi says the loan, through the Panamanian company Fintrade Services SA, was for $3.5 million.
Mrs Rezko’s purchase and sale of the land to Mr Obama raises many unanswered questions...... "
