My Lunch And Utensils

I'm still under the weather so today for lunch I am having some chicken soup and an Italian chop style salad. Obviously someone made this salad for me. I don't own a salad chopper. I think in my kitchen drawers I have a fork and maybe a spoon. Originally humans didn't have kitchen utensils, so everybody ate things whole. People spent most of their day chewing. That's why it took so long for them to get around to inventing the wheel.

But one day, a wise caveman said, "what if we split this watermelon into a couple of pieces?" Back then, by the way, watermelons weighed over 2000 pounds and were the size of Volkswagen buses. Now, you could fill your kitchen from floor to ceiling with cooking utensils. There are carrot peelers, cheese graters, salad spinners, garlic presses, orange squeezers... It seems like every food has it's own utensil. Sometimes I long for the old days when all you needed was a sharp rock ...and a mastodon peeler.

Ellen!!!

I have recently been enjoying at least 2 cups of tea!!!

I like it. I can feel a difference. I got detox tea and respitory care tea.

I am off to have a cup o tea! I went to Canada to the Butchard Gardens and we had to stop for tea time!!!! Not much into gardens but they did have a great many gardens... very colorful. They even had a japanese garden! Its very artsy. If you never been... you should go sometime. The thing I enjoyed most was tea time as my server girl was cute!!! she poored my tea! And the japanese garden was nice. But other than that I was quite bored. Gardens look like they take a lot of work and maint.

Hey Ellen...
To get rid of your raspy voice try a spoonful of
Drambuie(liquior) as warm as you can handle. It really helps...Hope your feeling better soon.
Thanks for keeping us entertained...

Dearest Ellen, I too, am sick with a bug..., ever thought about using that idea as a story line for a joke? A bug... I have a bug... God Jeeezzz Louise... what EXACTLY IS A BUG anyway....I am LOL just imagining what you'd come up with!

oh well, I am a new fan to show but, when I fell & broke my ankle I was in bed for 12 weeks after surgery. It was your show I looked forward to everyday. I sure love you and I am so hooked on the show now.

Hey I would love to make you some of my yummy homemade chicken soup and serve it to you myself with some nice hot tea with honey & lemon. This stuff cures what ails ya!! I am just an old fashioned gal who wanted to say I adore you... and who hopes you feel better soon. I hope I feel better too... back to bed for me and I will be watching tomorrow to see Josiah!

Hi Ellen

Sorry you're under the weather, but I'm glad you are perservering by coming in to work but that you are not tiring yourself out by dancing.

One thing that has come to my attention and forces me to turn away from your show or fast forward through that part is your marshmallow game. For the most part, it does look like a lot of fun, but I haven't seen that you would defer to the height of the player - the shorter a person is, the harder it is for them to use the elastic band properly unless it was moved. I noticed from the first time you had other people play it - the women who were shorter had an awful time keeping the elastic under their nose, and it would slide up their face and snap back, and looked slightly painful when it did so.

I tried to write in the other area just for emailing you, but that link didn't work, so I'm writing here instead.

Ellen!

Sorry your sick. I hope you get to feeling better soon. Sorry you have to go to work... but you love your job so that's good. I know I don't like to go to work feeling tired/sick. Its hard going to work.. but as you say... the energy from the audience helps. Seems like we your audience/fans just sit back and take and take and take... but I guess in our own special way/support and being there... we give to you as well.

Hope you get to feeling better Ellen!

Hugs,
T

Hey Ellen,
Hope you are feeling better. On February 15, you had a chef on your show and she made this mouthwatering flank steak dish. You have not posted it in the recipe section, please do so. It looked really yummy. Love your show!
Thanks,

I have been back a few times --looking for the Flank Steak recipe. I did make a version of it after watching your show on Friday, the BEER was EXCELLENT, very good (both in the pot and while I was making it!!). I couldn't find Adobo Seasoning --so, I used a South West herb mix I picked up at store. I put the Flank steak in oven at 350, for a few hours. Then did the onion and green peppers and served with rice. It turned out very good, but would be nice to have the actual recipe.

We live in South FL and Ropa Vieja is my favorite Cuban cuisine. It's great that I can make it myself.

I'll be back, in the meantime ...you have some cool recipes on your site for deserts :-) Yummy...

Enjoy your show, makes me chuckle...

Hmmm, so what's the story of those lil'hearts down there Ellen???

"It seems like every food has it's own utensil."

Ellen, you're a wildly influential lady. For this reason, we need to talk about your use of apostrophes.

"It's," as you've written above, is the contraction form of "it is." "It seems like every food has it is own utensil?" You're looking for the possessive "its." Really, Ellen, we can't have you further crippling the already grammatically lame general public with this poor punctuation. You should strive to set as good an example with apostrophes as you do with your sweet, sweet dance moves.

If this a sensitive subject for you, send me an e-mail. I've got my red pen ready, and I'd be glad to help.

Sincerely,
Sally

Rebekah Withey, Jaime Gottmann, Jamie Bielich and Stephanie Smith, winners of the GMC Acadia Highway To Ellen Roadtrip, were wonderfully exciting to watch when you called to tell them they won. They all have such energy. I was jumping around my room with excitement for them. My puppy thought it was fun too. Being able to "ride" along with them during of their trip will be an adventure. Their "entry" video shows that they know how to create their own excitment. You made a great choice by picking them.

My recent retirement has allowed me discovered how much joy you give us. Now I don't want to miss a show! Every day I double check to be sure your show is being recorded. Sometimes I spend the whole day watching and re-watching your shows. It is wonderful to smile and laugh out loud so much just because of you. THANK YOU!

Hope you feel better soon.

Aloha Ellen~

I live in Hawaii and was looking online today to see how to get tickets for July but they aren't available that far in advance---what, you don't know what you are doing the 21st of July?? :-) I do, I'm hopefully going to be sitting in your audience laughing my okole off like I do here in Paradise.
One day a few weeks back I was laughing so hard I had tears running down my face and I thought, this is the show that is going to win her the Emmy again.
I haven't read these blogs before and everyone tells you that you are the best, now count me in as one that agrees! Even on your down days you are so funny.
Hopefully I'll see those sparkly blue eyes in person in July. I'll have the chocolate covered Macadamia Nuts with me just in case.
Feel free to contact me for your own personal tour of Oahu the next time you are in Hawaii! I know, right now you are saying "what the February is she talking about???"

Aloha, Leslie
