30 Seconds To Air

How can one of the world's most popular television personalities be shy, you ask? The answer is that many shy people overcompensate for their shyness by having their own talk shows. Johnny Carson was notoriously shy and stayed in a small room located under his desk until he would hear Doc Severinsen start up the band. Dick Cavett never spoke a word until he was 27-years old. Mike Douglas was so shy that he had a Mike Douglas impersonator host every single one of his shows.

Look at those bright blue eyes yearning to be your friend. Sometimes if you are quiet and don't make any quick movements, you can coax her out by making clicking sounds and she will host a show for you. I think it's a testament to her dedication and professionalism that she overcomes her fears day after day to entertain all of us. Shhhh. Ellen's show is about to start. Don't make any sudden movements and back up slowly. There's only ...30 Seconds To Air.

You are full of energy and child-like youth!
Shame on all those people who say you're middle-aged when you turn fifty!
Why, here's Ellen, our testimony!!

Oh thank goodness, I thought you were wiping your nose on the curtain! At least it's just that you're shy. Whew.

Ellen,

I wanted to write to tell you that I love your show. You really exhume a sincerity that is contagious.

I loved watching your show while I was in chemo and was really disappointed when one person in the room made a comment 'about those kinds of people'. It was upsetting. I have two gay cousins and I absolutely love them, and spending time with them. They are two of my funniest relatives and I look forward to getting to see them. I love the fact that they are both successful, but more importantly are comfortable in their own skin. In fact, I realized that when one of my cousin's friends was impressed that I would visit and not judge. His family did not accept him, and that made me realize that too many people still judge. I was prompted to write this note because I was angry with what happened to Larry. It's sad to think that he lost his life for just showing another human being that he cared for them. It's apparent that too many people react harshly about situations without thinking things through.

Well, keep up the good work girl.....my Mom loves watching you too! And keep dancing!

Another fan,
Theresa

Hi Ellen,

You are a very kind and lovely person. I saw your show today about the 15 year old young man bing murdered because he was gay. This is a tragedy and I wonder what are we teaching our children! All of us are different in some way so let's just accept each other as we are. (cause chances are we're not going to be any different) My thoughts and prayers go out to
both of the families involved.

Thank you for sharing this story.

HELLO ELLEN,
I AM A FIFTEEN YEAR POLICE OFFICER IN THE STATE OF OHIO. I AM WRITTING TO LET YOU KNOW MY OPINION OF YOU AND YOUR TALKSHOW. I HAVE TO TELL YOU THAT I AM SO VERY IMPRESSED WITH YOUR VALUES AND THE PERSONALITY THAT YOU POSSESS AND IN YOUR LIFE AND YOUR TALKSHOW. YOU WHERE YOUR HEART ON YOUR SLEEVE AND ARE NOT AFRAID TO SHOW THAT YOU HURT SOMETIMES. FAME HAS NOT CHANGED YOU AND I THANK GOD THAT YOU HAVE THE STAGE TO SHARE YOUR LIFE AND VALUES. I WATCHED TODAY AND UNDERSTOOD YOUR STORY ABOUT THE HATE CRIME OF THE EIGHT YEAR OLD BOYS. I SEE THIS EVERYDAY AND IT IS VERY SAD AND TRAGIC. I SEE SHOWS LIKE OPRA AND TO BE HONEST I DON'T GET MUCH OUT OF IT. YOU AND YOUR WONDERFUL STAFF HAVE SO MUCH MORE LOVE AND "REAL" GUEST AND TOPICS THAT I AM A DEVOTED FAN FOR LIFE. THANK YOU SOOOOO VERY MUCH.....GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR STAFF.

Wow, I can't believe all the greedy people here. I don't want that Acadia or anything. I just wanted to say hi and let you know that its just fine to be shy. I'm shy too but I can let the jokes fly. Keep being gorgeous and cool Miss Ellen, and keep educating people about the importance of acceptance. Thank you!

Hi Ellen,

I notice that Styker play The 1994 remix version of "December 1963 (Oh What a Night)" by Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons when you danced to the song yesterday.

Ellen! :)

I liked your dancers you had on today!!! That was sooo cool how they made wind and it was so believable that I looked for a wind machine and found that it was all the dancers!!!! They are AMAZING(underline and highlight this!)!!!!!

Its sad to hear about the senseless murder of an 8th grader. He was adorable/cute. What life laid before him was taken away. Life would have been better with him but we will never know what this young man could have contributed to society/life. His killer's life is forever changed true. This is also sad. Its sad that he did get the hate message. Love thy neighbor as yourself. We are all related and we all have feelings and all want to be loved and belong and need to be needed/loved/adored...etc. We all deserve respect and honor.

If you are different in anyway the human condition will find it and peck. (female, african american, gay, straight,) whatever someone doesn't like.. crooked teeth, crooked eyes..speech problems... some people just are mean. WHY???? Having some differences are worse and if the majority don't like you... its hell. no matter what. Why do we think its funny or acceptable?? to belittle people/pick on 'em... or kill? School is so much harder and more violent than when I was in school and I'm glad I'm not in school anymore... and feel for kids that are in school now. Its different... so different. Kids shouldn't have to stress about safety.. all kids should have to worry about is learning! Some teachers are afraid. I think we should teach compassion in school or at least respect. Parenting vs. school..dangerous rights issues here... but we have to do something.

I knew that about Johnny Carson, but none of the rest of them. I knew you were really shy. I think comedians are all shy. Just look at me. Writing to you. I'm so shy I can't believe I'm writing this. My 92 year old mother is shy too. Listen to this. I was on my way to work this morning and her picture fell off the Refri-a -grater. I thought, I better call her when I get to work to see how she is.So I called and said Mom, your picture fell off my refrigerator,so I thought I'd better call. So how are you Mom? She says Well I don't know I just fell off your refrigerator. I laughed so hard. I said Mom your so funny. I just love her.
So Have a good day Ellen. Stay shy and funny, we all love your humor. Your 1 of a kind. Kathy (5 cents) Nichols

Hi Ellen,

My 12 yr old son and I watch your show every night before bed. It's what we do.

We saw you at Universal Studios last March, well..we were in the riff raff block party, but had a fantastic time. People always see the hat and t-shirt I bought and ask me if I really danced with you in Orlando.

My one comment is this.

As a resident of Canada, I am excluded from all of your contests and daily draws. I used to enter the daily giveaway every day for months until I realized it was for U.S. residents only.

What's with that????

We in Canada love you to and make up a huge part of your audience. You make me feel left out.

Don't worry, we'll still watch your show. We love you and my son thinks you are the best. He 1st fell in love with you as "Dory" (Yes there should be a "Finding Nemo 2") and now he just loves you and really enjoyed your book "My Point and I Do Have One".

I just thinnk you should include us in your offers, contest and giveaways. We'd include you in anything here in Canada.

Why not come and ride the tollercoasters at Canada's Wonderland, I'll even go on with you.

Left Out,

Michele Brown xo
