wow lets not get too overheated about glitter. Whats really sad is that you people actually are arguing over glitter when it was just a simple question to begin with, and people have their own opinions... i personally like glitter and embelishments that sparkle... I guess Im one of the many who enjoy the look of it under the light. You honestly meghan(or w/e ur name is) have no life if you actually can feud over something as little as glue... everyones different... accept it... we all do, maybe you should start too...put downs is whats ruining our country...
i really can not believe some of you!! i never thought of glitter as anything but glitter! some of you people are seemingly OBSESSED with it-- i mean with the hatred of it-- to "dan k" who commented. i am so serious when i say , you need a doc. i can not believe the way you go on and on and i was astonished when i read your passionate comments of glitter! its hysterical but you are unreal! it doesnt hurt anything you nut case! i can imagine what you are like if you run into an ACTUAL problem in life!! good luck "dan k"
Some people think our bags are the perfect way to carry and share their hand made cards- others think that they would be better with glitter and all sorts of embellishments on the outside of the bags. For me, glitter is more about the fun-then the result. However, you might get a chance to see one of our bags with a "great" result-tomorrow at the taping. Glitter may be our best look. I love what you do-your great comedy and smiling face has to be empowering to everyone! paula Krieger/president/dailywindow products, inc.
Maybe we should have a "design your own bag demonstration" with some of the HDTV design team on your show and do a give away.
....anyone on here that said that glitter should be banned is a freaking moron and should educate themselves further. There are over 100 things that cause serious injury in this country and more than half of them can kill, and you're arguing that about glitter and how it doesn't come off anything; go spend your time doing something worth wild. Yes, I understand that it can be a pain in the butt, but seriously, out of all the things you could be doing you're arguing about glitter; obviously you don't know how used glitter is. Go do research, find out, and you'll know that glitter will never be banned in America unless our president, congress, and everybody else hates glitter.
Dear Ellen,
I love glitter! I love the way it sparkles and makes everything look pretty...makes a spray painted gold macaroni jewerly box go from a toxic boxed treat to something magical!
What would Christmas be without glitter? How about New Years Eve? And Marti Gras?!!
Besides, I think that glitter is a gay food group (I should know : )...that's like, 1/5th of a drag queen's make up...1/3rd of a pride float...oh no!!!
I love glitter and I love me some Ellen too...PLEASE DON'T MAKE ME CHOOSE!!!
I can see that the corporations have gotten completely out of control! Who needs glitter in your toothpaste or especially deoderant...and yes they did completely over saturate the market with glitter in things...that is so sad...
But glitter is beautiful...makes things sparkle!
I could not live without it!
I have noticed also that for people that do not like it...it stays with them...heheheee.....
Do you notice the reason - the people that hate glitter can't make it go away...HAHAHAAAA....
I've noticed that for years...
Everyone needs a lil sparkle ;)
Yes! I wish glitter was banned. I loved what Senator Clinton said about her thoughts on glitter: ban it for anyone over...12! :D
And Ellen, did you also realise that they have put glitter in some TOOTHPASTES? I think that needs to be banned for sure. One time, after I brushed my teeth, I woke up the next day looking at specks of glitter between my teeth!
Oh dear sweet Jesus, YEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!
YESSSSSSSS!!! YEEEESSSS!!
I can't believe somebody famous actually said it!
I DESPISE glitter, HATE, pure undadulterated HATE!
IMO, it is THE most worthless tasteless rude substance ON EARTH!!!
Gets on you hands and doesnt warn you, as Ellen says? That is like 1 millionth of its scourge!
It gets on everything it or the person inflicting it touches! It sticks, it doesn't come off, it travels from thing to thing like nuclear waste.
Pay attention and watch around you. I'm not exaggerating.
If you get it on carpet you can vacuum it 1000 times and it will never come off.
You'll think you got it, but then the light hits it from another angle and you didn't.
You can TRY to wash your clothes, but you'll only make it worse. Afterward it'll be on all your other clothes too.
The only thing you have a prayer of getting it off with is tape, with very low success.
If it's the kind teenybobbers spray all over themselves you can just forget EVER seeing the last of it unless you shower off, put on clothes somebody else handed you, burn down your house and blow up your car!
Wash it, wipe it, vacuum it, steam clean it, you will NEVER get it all if your life depended on it.
Just think about it, you're wearing some tacky garbage that looks like sweat and you get it on anybody or anything you bump into.
What else would that be tolerated for??!
If you had wet paint on you, people would scream bloody murder.
If you want to look like you're covered with sweat or snow, look like a moron in your own house and never come back out again!
You have no right to get your filth on the rest of us!
To reiterate for the glitter wearer:
You look like crap! You look sweaty.
You look tasteless and tacky.
You look like a stripper or a prostitute.
Notice they're the ones who wear it the most?
Well, teenage girls are worse. For some reason the lowest asthetic taste starts with them.
Little kids don't need it to put it on their greeting cards in glue and then dump it on the floor. There's are countless crafts projects they would like as much or more.
BAN THIS FILTH!
Glitter is from hell itself!
PS - for the TRUE glitter hater:
The reason it won't come off is it is actually microns thin and you only see the width.
At that thickness it can stick IN the very fibers of anything textile. It can wedge into your skin.
It tends to be HUGELY attracted to the slightest bit of static.
It is actually made of mica, not plastic or metal.
Most of it is made in New Jersey (shocker eh?), AFAIK.
The larger flecks are actually the easier to get off, if you CAN get it off.
The smaller it is, the more it can wedge into any porous surface - you'll notice the only thing you may get it off of is a very smooth hard surface.
Smaller also means you miss it when you look for it to TRY to get rid of it, but when you give up you see it later. Try again, repeat insidious cycle.
Oooooh, I can't possibly say how much I hate this filth in words!
I hate it more than ANYTHING ON EARTH!
I'd rather be covered in dog crap!
I could wash that off!!!!!!!
Please, somebody, tell me there is a petition to rid us of this scum! Can one donate $ to some sort of movement?
Jeez I hope this thing notifies you of more posts to the thread or lets you email the poster!
Oh, one final note to the uniformed NON-hater:
If it doesn't come off, it isn't real glitter!
In car paint, it's called metal flake. It's METAL, IN the paint and you'd have to take a belt sander to get it off.
That is THE ONLY place it belongs, and not much of it.
If it's on a bar stool, it's in the plastic (unless some maggot was wearing it and got some on it).
Those old 70's iron on shirt stickers are NOT glitter, same reason.
Jeez I hope this isn't to long for the 2000's attention span. Post if you got this far!
NOT if you are part of the problem though!
I just want to second the Crafty Chica (Kathy Cano-Murillo). We all need a little glitter in our lives. We just need to use it responsibly.
i'm so glad i don't watch this show. is this seriously the kind of stuff you waste people's time with? geez.
Are you kidding? Glitter is what makes the world happy. Why are we worrying about something as harmless as puppies? Isn't there a writer's strike, a war, poverty and other nonhappy glitterless catastropies going on worldwide? Maybe we should sprinkle glitter on Iraq. Thanks Kathy! Long time lover of Glitter and will always be.
Dear Ellen:
I love you. I've always loved you. So much that I've always had your back through goods times and bad. I love you because you preach love, kindness and equality for all people and things!
Which is why this recent segment broke my heart!
Please don't try to get glitter banned! I happen to be a fan of glitter because I feel it shines light both literally and metaphorically. Light is good because it gives people a sense of wonder and hope that they might need at that very moment.
OK, I can totally understand your points - BUT you are talking about "loose" glitter. Please understand that is just one (the most well known) kind of glitter. Not all glitters are the same.
Please don't pass judgement on all glitters based on this one type.
Yes, loose glitter can be a headache to deal with. It has no shame, it sticks from person to person, thing to thing, with no remorse. And um, yes, I use it faithfully. And secretly, I kinda like it when one of my flecks spreads to someone else!
HOWEVER - I'm a preacher of "safe sparkle". I teach many workshops and have met many people who don't like loose glitter either, so I educate them on loose glitter alternatives. And I think if you knew about these, you might find it in your heart to come to love glitter.
I know you will probably never see this, but I want to help you find the right glitter for your personality!! And then you can share it on your show next holiday season so when people send you cards they will know what kind of glitter to use that will be still be sparkly, without the trouble.
Water-based brush on glitter: This comes in a bottle, in liquid form and you simply brush it on over any surface. It dries, and the glitter stays in place, no stray flecks anyway! May-jah sparkle!
Squeeze on glitter: This is concentrated glitter that comes also in a thick creamy gel in all different colors. You squeeze it on and when it dries, it looks like it is loose glitter, but doesn't shed.
Spray-on glitter: This comes in a bottle or can and you spray where you want it. And it sticks! No muss, no fuss!
Glitter paint: This is paint that has glitter in it, again, it dries, looks brilliant and you don't have to get it on your fingers!
Glitter fabric: My favorite is red glittered vinyl. Like the kind used on retro barstools. You just cut and sew and go!
There are gobs more, but these are just a start. I think if more anti-glitter people were educated on this topic and all it's varieites, the world would be a happier place!Let's all practice safe sparkle, let's stop the hate, the misunderstandings, and come to love all things that sparkle and shine.
Life is too short not to!
I think even the next President would agree with that.
Peace, love, and glitter,
Kathy Cano-Murillo
The Crafty Chica
P.S. I still love you, and always will!! Sending you air glitter!
Ellen,
I cannot stress to you how much I dislike glitter. Not only does it stick to everything but it is extremely small that it can fit anywhere and everywhere. My mom, God bless her, is a fan of glitter. She decided she would adorn my graduation party invitations with glitter. And it was not a sprinkling of glitter but a flood of glitter. Did I mention that it was the body glitter that she put in the invitation that is much smaller than "regular glitter." So after she sent the invites to hundreds of people, I recieved a pile of invites to hand out to friends at school and was suprised to find massive amounts of glitter in my invitations. Now that I am a junior in college, I am still finding glitter in my car, backpack and even on my clothes.
I support your banning of glitter nationwide!
Take care
Conerned glitter-hater!
Hi Ellen,
You probably can't mention this of tv but I was just listening to my xm comedy station and funny guy Demetri Martin who explained glitter the best. "If you work with glitter it's with you for the rest of your life. Glitter, the herpes of craft supplies!" I laughed and thought of you!
Best Wishes, Karen
GLITTER IS GOOD FOR YOU!
I have me DCR set to tape your show everyday, I always enjoy your show until....OH MY GOD! how could you want to ban glitter. your insane,I am glitter! so what if it sticks to you, and your friends, it looks good, you save money you can wear it for days without having to replace it. You can shower and it'll stay on. You can't say the same about perfume you have to keep reapplying that.
