Ellen,

I agree with another fan and her suggestion...you need to call up Bucky Covington! His latest single "Good to Be Us" is moving up the charts and the words to the song are just perfect for all of us to live by!

PS. I would love to party w/Bucky and his twin brother Rocky? Did you know that Bucky’s managers are Don & Ron Harris, also twins and former professional wrestlers? Ellen! This would be fun…

I would love to send a special cheesecake to Ellen for Valentine's Day since it is too late for her birthday. I make the only healthy all natural cheesecake on the planet with no butter, margarine or oil, gluten free, and very low sugar and because of what I don't put in, probably the most delcious cheesecake you've ever eaten. I use organic vanilla (which contains no corn syrup)and make a sugar free low carb line that is also really yummy-my pumpkin sugar-free low carb actually has zero net carbs (because pumpkin has more fiber than carbohydrates)and the other sugar free low carb are all very low carb. Unfortunately I am the best kept secret on the planet because it has been difficult to let people know that I exist and probably should have contacted Ellen way back when...My customers begged me to do this so here I am. Looking forwad to hearing from you.I'm known as the "Cheers of Palm Beach" because people come here to get advice, network and to just visit with me. I would disappoint myself and my customers if I went out of business without giving this last ditched effort to get myself (my business) discovered. I won't compromise my standards in producing a healthy delicious and nutritious cheesecake by making a cheap imitation.Any help would be greatly appreciated.I should add that all of the celiacs, diabetics and bariatrics who are my customers are rooting for me to succeed.

Ellen - Today is my B-day! 39 and proud of it! You need to have Bucky Covington on your show asap! My 3 friends and I have been to several of his concerts - he is GREAT!
Take Care and glad you are feeling better!

I really enjoyed the interview for the book EAT THIS NOT THAT. Your shows always makes me think. Thank you and HAPPY BIRTHDAY. Judy

Just think about your grandparents and great-grandparents and how they grew up, they used LARD to cook with and they drank milk straight from the cow - no processing - and they made their own butter. They raised and slaughtered their own foods. They also for the most part lived short lives - probably hardening of the arteries. Some processing of foods are good for you because they take out the unhealthy things that don't belong in your foods. People are overweight because they eat and eat and eat, no one puts a gun to their heads and makes them eat anything it is their choice and the parents choice to feed the kids. Just remember that the next time you see a fat person or a thin person - IT'S ALL ABOUT CHOICE!!!

On yesterday's show you had a segment from the author of the book, "Eat this, not that" and you mentioned that other comparisons would be posted.
But I can't find that web page. Where do I go to get that info, I would like a little more input before I purchase this book.
Thanks for your help,
Laura McCloskey

I remember reading somewhere that they inject chickens with growth enhancing drugs to make them more meaty and grow faster. (Kinda reminds me of steroids). But there was a theory that the children who would eat the meat of the chickens that were injected with the drugs would sort of have the same effects, like go through puberty faster, grow bigger chests, etc. I started going through puberty when I was nine years old and I sometimes wonder if it had something to do with that since chicken was always something I ate on a regular basis... But the corporations don't care what happens to people from eating their food, all they care about is the all mighty dollar...

Yes, food corporations should be more concerned about people's health. The majority of our food is full of toxins (including pesticides and fertilizers) that are lethal! Food production that is driven by the dollar causes great problems! We end up with food that's basically poisin. Did you know that some genetically modified tomatos are injected with fish oil genes because it makes them have a longer "shelf life"? No wonder store bought tomatos taste like saw dust! People need to be made aware of this and can avoid these predicaments by purchasing locally grown organic fruits and vegetables and free range meat that isn't full of antibiotics and god only knows what else. So, yes, food corporations should be more concerned with our health.

I am 44 and just found out what the meat and dairy industry does to the animals before they slaughter them and ship them to our stores. Feeding them hormones and making them grow faster than they are supposed to, it was horrible to see. So what is that doing to our bodies and our growing childrens bodies. Everyone should stop buying meat and dairy until they stop. Maybe this will also bring the prices down of the healthier organic foods. As for most parents they do not care what they feed their children. I work at an elementary school and I see what the parents put in their kids lunch boxes. It is so sad. It is actually very easy to feed your kids healthy foods. First of all do not go to fast food places EVER!! Next buy lots of fresh vegetables and fruit. It is a lot cheaper than buying boxed and canned crap. Give your kids vegetables and fruit with EVERY meal. Get rid of the side dish, not needed ever! Mac and cheese should not be a staple, do not buy it. Parents wonder why kids are not doing well in school and can not focus, could it be the sugar cereal and pop tarts they have for breakfast. I even see kids coming to school with Starbucks. Come on mom's, get a grip.

i do think that in england healthy food is cheap, even families on low incomes should be ale to afford it, if they cant i think the government should help them. there is to much hidden ingredients that the food companys dont tell people.

I feel that it is our own personal responsibility to watch what we put in our mouths. I DO agree that the caloric information should be put on the food products but, ultimately, if we are fat it's because WE put the bad foods in our mouths and did not get active. Portion size is another problem. I've had to start watching the amount of food and which foods I put on my plate, and had to start walking. It's not as fun but it's MY job, not anyone elses.

Being an overweight person and having kids who are also overeight eating and choosing is hard to do especially when poor and depending on food stamps. I just recently had a heart attack and I am to change how I eat. I never ate much but can't afford the finer things to eat right and still can't but I do try. People need to read the labels more. I take forever in a grocery store because I read labels. It is not easy to have the fruit, vegies, protein, and diary requirements.
We do need to control more of what we eat and how we eat to save kids of the future and all the diseases out there that being overweight can cause.

Addressing the weight and overall health issue is great the examples shown here are very ggod for lowering the fat and calories which everyone needs to address , it has been addressed for YEARS . more attention needs to be addressed on the sodium content in foods that kills 250 thousand people per year , if you look at the sodium content in these food it is HIGH , and the choices do not include your drink, your maybe fries and so on add those up and your are probably over your daily limit of 2000- 2500 per day , the sodium is also a HUGE reason there is such a weight problem along with alot of other health issues such as the heart. it would be great if people were made more aware of this and the fda would do something about it already.

I agree that portion sizes are totally out of control! Go to Cheesecake Factory, etc. and they are just enormous. Of course, one doesn't HAVE to eat it all, but it just sends the wrong message to serve that much to people.

Personally I think there's too much meat and dairy consumption. I am not a vegetarian, but I do think we rely on these things too much for our meals. There are so many more healthy and light options and we'd feel so much better if we just took it down a notch!

food is too easily accessible for people and nutrition labels are not! There is also a lack of information provided for children and are not taught to eat healthy, they are taught to eat fast. Portion sizes are crazy these days and healthy food is expensive! its crazy! no wonder why people and MANY children are over weight!
