This Day In Ellen History

On this day in 1958, at 1:38 PM, at the Ochsner Hospital in Metairie Louisiana, Ellen Lee DeGeneres was born. The clouds parted, birds could be heard singing and a rainbow was seen for miles.

On this day in 1967, Ellen got a bicycle for her birthday. She wanted a pony. Ellen ended up naming her bicycle Mr. Ed and could be seen pretending to feed it carrots in it's stall in the garage.

On this day in 2006, President William Jefferson Clinton made a surprise video appearance on Ellen's show and wished her a sincere happy birthday.

On this day in 2008, Ellen is celebrating a very happy 50th birthday. She was very touched and was seen yesterday thanking everyone for making it so special.

Ellen,
Happy Birthday, I woke up on Saturday and remembered it was was your day. Hope you had a happy one. You make me laugh and smile everyday. Such a nice and sweet person. You look so young because of your attitude about life, a young 50.
I'm a young 51 (thanks to oil of olay) and have been told I look like you. Except now my hair is salt and pepper from chemo, so now I now I look like you with grey short hair. You made me laugh so much though-out this last year. I made it to listen to more of your jokes and laughter.
Happy Day,
Debbie

Happy Birthday Ellen! You make me laugh everyday when i come home from a long day at work. You also made my friend laugh til the day she passed. You made her laugh everyday and I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for that. I appreciate it. Thanks Ellen. Love ya!

Hi Ellen-

I hope you had a fabulous 50th Birthday!!! You look GREAT!!

I was looking forward to watching your Birthday Show when I got home from work Friday. However, thanks to the Mayor of Detroit I was unable to see the entire show! The local news had a
"Breaking News Report" regarding the Mayor's text message scandal. They did play the show in it's entirety, however, I had only set the VCR for 60 mins.
It seems like 10am is the time they always have Breaking News Reports.. .I could have waited until the 12pm news to hear about the Mayor!!! A few weeks ago the Breaking News was the new football coach at the University of MI.

This morning before leaving for work, I made sure the VCR was set from 10-11:30 instead of 10-11. The Mayor is back in town, I'm sure they will bust into your show again today....

Have a great week!
Stephanie

Hi Ellen,

Just wanted to tell you that I watched your Birthday Show on Friday and enjoyed it alot.

It was nice that so many of your friends left messages for you to hear and share with others. I think it is also nice that you are choosing to share gifts with others.

I hope your actual birthday on Saturday was a special one and shared with only your dearest of friends.

Again, Happy Birthday and may you share many many more. Keep up the good work on your show.

Your Loyal Fan, Gary

Ellen, You're the greatest--HAPPY B-DAY!! I'm sure you don't remember this, (but then again maybe you do--it is rather memorable!) but I came to your show 2 yrs ago on Feb 2--exactly 1 wk after your b-day. I remember it well because my granddaughter, Skylar, was 1 wk old. The unusual thing about her is: she wasn't due to be born until April 23, 2006, but apparently she was SOOOOOOO anxious to be born on YOUR BIRTHDAY that she arrived THREE MONTHS EARLY just to make her wish come true!!! Since she weighed in at only one pound fourteen oz (!), she had to stay in the NICU until her 4 month birthday, and at 4 mos old weighed only 5 lbs 14 oz. Though Skylar is still VERY petite for 2 yrs old, she has come a long way and doing wonderfully! I always remind myself how fortunate we are that she is healthy, and that she shares YOUR birthday! I just hope she's as funny and generous and kind as you! Keep up the good work making our days brighter! (Skylar's already doing THAT for me!)
Take care,
Carol Maffitt
PS~do you remember one of your staff bringing a picture to you before the taping started...it was Skylar at 6 days old wearing her grandpa's wedding ring as a bracelet, and it was loose on her arm! (AHA! NOW you remember, riiight?)

Happy Birthday Ellen!!

You share a birthday with my favorite female artist - Lucinda Williams!

Happy Birthday to you both!

I hope that some day you can have her on your show!

Love always,

Mark & Scott
