Heath Ledger

Heath Ledger was one of our favorite guests and a friend. We will miss him immensely. The world will miss his incredible talent. As we remember him fondly, here is a clip from the last time heath was on the show.

Dear Ellen, I thank you for the amazing tribute to Heath Ledger, I thought he was a very talented actor and although I did'nt know him he seemed very down to earth and like he had a great heart. I think the world is going to miss his talent and everything he had to offer this world. My family suffered the same tragedy, my gorgeous loving nephew (who was like my own child) died 6 years ago and was not but a few years older than Heath. He died almost the same way, my family, especially his mother will never be the same without him and anytime someone so young with so much promise leaves this world it is a horrible thing and the only thing that helps me heal is that God needed some angel's and I believe that is where they both are, and smiling down on us! Ellen, I don't think I've ever gotten emotional about any celebrity dying, but for Heath Ledger, I just can't stop thinking about it. It saddens me every time I see clip after clip of him as well as photos they post of him, his daughter and Michelle in happier times. I can't imagine what Michelle is going through and what her daughter will now miss. Heath seemed to be an amazing actor, such huge talent as well as a genuine person. His interview that day on your show was one of the interviews that made me laugh as his humor shined, and cry to think he is not here anymore. You had the privilege to have known him and I thank you for making that tribute to him.

It is so sad to see Heath looking happy in your show and to know we wont see him again. But we know in our hearts he is still here somewhere looking over. He will be missed greatly. My heart goes out to his family. You are very thoughtful person for making a tribute to Heath Ledger.

Heath Ledger was such an amazing talent in Hollywood. He was and will always be a breath of fresh air. I'm sad that he is gone, but grateful for what he left behind. His memory will always be here with us. Ellen you said goodbye in such a beautiful way, thank you! He will be missed by many. Our thoughts are with his family!

I was so upset over this because it was so sudden. Kudos to you and your staff for paying such a sincere and tactful tribute to a wonderful and talented actor.


I feel out of all of the reports and related stories about this sad announcement, you and Joel McHale from Talk Soup, each said it best.

I have called Heath "my boyfriend" ever since 10 Things I Hate About You... I am a middle school teacher. I have two pictures of Heath up in front of the class near my flag (and one near my desk). Some times when we pledge allegience, I actually pledge to Heath (at least that's what I tell the girls). I had former students calling me at home and coming by after school to see me when they heard the news... I actually took a sick day Friday. I mourn this huge loss and send thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.

Your tribute to Heath was inspiring. Someone as funny as you are all the time, when you mentioned his name I was scared of how you would come across in a serious and sad moment. You showed emotion and love towards him....you, again were wonderful because I truely believe you let the true YOU show through when you took the time to acknowledge him. Thank you.

I was upset when hearing about Heath Ledger.It was a nice wee tribute you gave last week.My feelings of anger with the media were emmence because there was so much speculation around what "may of" occured.What business is it of the public about his will,or his lack of sleep and all.People build up "SO" much crap and yet "YOU" Ellen are a dignified woman that NEVER intentionally gossips about others and trys to remember the person with upmost respect.I thank you so much for that.Your show is wonderful, makes me laugh and 10:00 am every morning is my time for happiness. Thanks again!!!

It was devestating hearing about this horrible loss. Regaurdless to whether or not I knew the man, it was extremely upsetting on my behalf. I remember being a little girl in middle school when I first saw him appear in "Ten Thinks I hate about you" and the "Patriot". He was my heart throbe. I grew up, now 20, turning 21 in a few days and it just felt like a chapter in my life story closing. It makes me realize how much time has passed, and it makes you realize that it isn't stopping for anyone or anything. It is just mind-blowing how it slips thru your fingers. I send my love to his family and his friends, and whoever was touched by him. He was a great actor, with a good head and heart to match.

I watch your show each day. Today I saw you trying the exercise chair. Maybe it should have a seat belt to keep you in it. Other wise it looks a little dangerous.

Such a nice tribute to Heath. He was an amazing actor and man and almost a week later, I still cannot believe he is gone. His death has touched me so much you would have thought I knew him personally. It is tragic that his life ended when he had so much promise. It is a shame we will never see what could have been. My thoughts and prayers are with his mom, dad, sister, Michelle and his baby girl who will not get to know what an amazing person who dad was.

Hi Ellen, I am hoping your show ending with a segment of Heath from last year will be aired here in Australia soon as I have not seen it yet. Australia and the rest of the world are grieving the loss of such talented and beautiful man. I have fond, fond memories of dancing around my lounge room swooning over Heath singing "You're just too good to be true, can't take my eyes of of you"

Ellen,i am a fan of yourslef and your great show,you are always funny and your show puts a smile on my face. Thankyou for providing such a lovley tribute to Heath Ledger. I have always been a fan of Heath and am so incredibly sad about his untimely death,its a tragedy. Your clip reminded me of the Heath we all should be remembering. Heath,like us,was just another person. He was funny and,like your clip showed,he definaltey had a sense of humour. Its just so terrible. Rest in peace Heath. XxxX

Ellen thank-you for sharing that clip. I missed that show. My whole family with ages49,48, 19, 13 and 12 are all sadend as with the rest of the world. I still cannot believe Heath Ledger is gone. Ever since I got the news about his passing I have kept running it through my head. I cant believe he is gone. OMG! I am so unbelievably sad. I know everyone will die one day, but he shouldnt have left just yet. That is why people wish they could have seen more of him. I know I do. Looking at this clip reminds me of his life and talents. Hey he could juggle. I havent mastered that. I have been reaching for his movies even more now just to get another glimps of his beautiful face, smile and hear that voice. Gosh, Heath I just loved you and your work. May you be at peace Heath. At least we still have Matilda Rose to keep your memory alive. She looks just like you and I am sure there is a part of you in there some where. I will miss you and mourn you like many others in the world. You will always be in our hearts.
