Sustainable living: My son and his friends will help the world with a new invention...that makes it possible for everyone to have alternative energy like electricity at their home without taping into the utility company.. the car will transport the prototype and friends who don't have a car to school and to peoples homes to show them how this motor and how the products work..
Thanks

Dear Ellen,
Congrats on getting married. Im very happy for you.
I would never be able to make it on your show because my hubby is terminally ill, but boy I would just love to come one time when you give your loyal fans some real goodies...cars, vacations, home make-overs anything at this point. I try to keep on with your show and love it dearly. So please keep me posted on your contest because those who cant be there truly wish they could get some nice loyal watcher gifts. Again congrats.

Dear Ellen,
We definitely need a new suv. We pick up our granddaughter five days a week. We are taking care of our granddaughter and sometimes our grandsons, also. One of our grandsons is Autistic. We pick him up every Wednesday as he gets off early from school and his mother is at work. We need to replace our 1992 chevy Caprice which has over 120,000 miles and the engine is making tappet knocks. It is knocking real bad, esp. going uphill. The heater when I turn it on makes alot of noise and it's like it's going to break apart because it makes alot of noise. I don't know how much longer this car is goin to last My husband just had two total knee replacement surgries. He has physical therapy 3 times a week. We are both retired and in our 60s. Thank you for listening to us. Rosalia Perez
Hello from Ga. First want to say thanks for all you do for everyone & love your show. My son asked me to write as we are [ as many others] are in need of a car, truck, vespa, anything that will get us going in the right direction. He's almost 21 & the greatest. He's been going to school & working to help out after I came off of disability. Duh me, I didn't realise how hard it would be to jump back into the job market, like they were waiting on me, which is not so easy at the young age of ahem....over 50. Didn't feel old 'til I was turned down from so many jobs which is I'm sure a blessing in disguise as I found out about grants to help me through school! Our car has almost 200K miles on it, would cost more to fix thsn it's worth & is 14 yr's old. So thanks for reading, I feel better for writing & hey Ellen, you aren't hiring are you? Keep on smiling & dancing, we all love you! ~Shirl
Hi Ellen: I have never owned a new vehicle and I'm fast approaching my "best before date". While I can still both mentally and physically drive, I think it would be sooooo neat to take my entire family ( 4 adults and 3 grandkids--so we would all fit comfortably in an 8 passenger van) on a trip to L.A. Please consider me!!! A regular Canadian viewer.
I can't tell you about my hardships in life, because there seems to be too many people worse off than I. I get no pleasure from that, having been told to be glad for what I have, by looking at the less fortunate. Reading these stories breaks my heart, and I wish I could give a car to everyone (except maybe not for the 18 year old partiers!) That must be a very difficult thing to decide, who is the most deserving. I would not want to be in your shoes because no matter who wins, the rest are losers! That could be a very devastating thing to someone, and I would not want that kind of responsibilty for someone I don't know. I know your heart is in the right place. I have been told that I am a bleeding heart, and I guess it is true. I am ashamed to even ask for consideration, because I know others deserve it more than I do. I am 50, also, and I own a 1991 Mazda Miata which I bought with my 401K when I lost my job in 2003. It was the car of my dreams, the one thing that made me feel truly happy and free. It does not run now because I let my oldest son(I have two) use it to go to work for a while, and he was rear ended in it and it was totaled. Thank God he was okay but my poor little car, well insurance from the person who hit him bought another one similar to mine. I had no choice but to let him drive it too, and now it has a blown engine. I drove a School Bus for a while, but could not get to work so I had to stop. I really miss driving my bus, and the kids I used to see everyday. I have been married over 18 years, and my husband and I both worked at the same job when we were both let go two weeks before my youngest started high school. He wanted to be in band so we scraped up and somehow he made it through four years, he graduated with Texas Scholar Award, with Distinguished Certificate. He had a hard time in high school because we had moved from close by to a rural area, because of finances, and was not provided bus services. Thats why I became a bus driver, and because he could not drive. He did not get his license until his uncle gave him an old car a few months before he graduated. His older brother has helped him out with the insurance, but he was recently laid off from his job as an electrician. My sons are great, and both had big obstacles in their lives to overcome. My oldest went to prison for stupid juvenile things he did, (nothing violent)when he was 17, and spent five years locked up (he is now almost 30). He and his brother are 10 years apart. My youngest had a really hard time with this because I had a hard time. They have both turned out to be wonderful, smart caring young men who would love to take a rode trip with their mom. My youngest is hoping to be accepted to the University of Texas at Austin in the fall on a grant. He wants to go the the Radio, Television, Film School and is working for Blizzard Entertainment (World of Warcraft)in the meantime. His first real job, because in high school he couldn't work because he had no ride. I told him and everyone else, school and band was his job, and to do his best and it would pay off for him someday. This could be one of those big payoffs for him, and he certainly deserves it. It would go a long way in establishing his goal in life to be a film maker. His future is so bright, he's gotta wear shades!
Ellen,
Good Morning! I don't know that I derserve a new car more than anyone else might, but I know that I could sure use it and it would be a wonderful blessing in my life at this time.
Just a list of what my life has been in the last few years.
Finished college and started new job in June of O3 only to have to leave it in Oct. to go home and help take care of my stepdad who died of stomach cancer that Thanksgiving. Moved back to Missouri and then back to Arkansas for same job that I had left in O3. During that time had my geo metro was smashed by a deer. Took hood off, fixed radiator and zipped stripped headlight back into it and kept driving it. Son graduated high school. Second one in family to do so! He's been in the Army since then and is now serving in Iraq. Suffered w/ daughter through her miscarriage. Then in fall of 2005 my mom's breast cancer returned & migrated all over her body and I left same job again to care for her and my two niece's she was raising while still raising two of my four children. Metro crapped out on me, brother gave me a his 97 Nissan Truck. Few months later a little 90 year old woman walked out into road in front of me. Missed old lady but wrecked truck doing so. Needed a car so maxed out my credit card to buy a 98 Plymouth Neon. Daughter graduated high school. Third person in family to do so! In May of 2006 my Paternal Grandfather died. In June of 2006 my son's Grandfather died(he was my grandfather for 16 years). On Dec. 31 of 2006 I watched my mother take her last breath after caring for her for more than a year; leaving me as the eldest member of my family at the age of 37. Before she died she asked me to sell her my Neon for my niece who was going to live w/ my daughter after her death. I did so at a cost to me and used part of the money to buy a 92 plymouth voyager van. In Dec. of 2006 (2 weeks before mom died) front end fell out of it. Fixed it. Used other part of money to move back to Missouri to be close to daugther, new granbaby and niece who went to live w/ her. Couldn't return to work, because now my health was failing. Summer of 2007 had uncontrolled bleeding for more than five months that resulted in discovery of fibroid tumor and endometriois. Scheduled surgery, but had to postpone it because ex didn't bring my son home as promised. So made big trip of it, took daughter, grandbaby, niece and other son to go get him in Texas and visit my brother. On the way back front end fell out of van again and I was stranded in AR for over 2 weeks. Made it home finally and had surgery August 29th. Surgery went well, but I almost died immediately afterwards when I quit breathing due to undiagnosed sleep apnea. Nurse came in just in time. One moment I was talking to my daughter telling her to go home I'm fine, just want to rest, to go home; surgery is over and the next I wake up to a bed surrounded and by doctors and nurses and a resuciatation bag on my face! Whew! talk about scary! Went home a couple of days later only to develope a cellulitis infection that became life threatening and I had to go back to the hospital for more than two weeks and a few other complications involing IVs and PICC lines w/ continued treatment at home for awhile upon second release. Since then I've been diagnosed w/ sleep apnea, bone spures at c5 & c6 of my spine, a reverse curvature of my spine & just recently a very large mass in my thyroid that has been biopsied, returning w/ atypical markers. Recieved the news about the discovery of the mass while I was in Texas w/ my son to spend the last days of his grandmother's life visiting w/ her(my very dear grandmother for 17years). I was supposed to see a surgeon this morning about removing the mass but had to cancel due to that van being broke down again. 3 weeks ago it quit on me, put a new fuel pump on it, and timing belt. Then last week it died on me again. Won't do anything right now, they think it might be a starter relay but on top of that it needs brakes as well, and the power steering pump is leaking. There is no headliner in it and the sliding door does not function properly. Borrowed niece's car and it overheated, yet to have problem diagnosed. Life has been rough in the past few years I've lost 2 parents, 3 grandparents, an unborn grandchild and my health. I've gained 2 high school graduates, 2 grandson's w/ a third on the way and due in July. I keep plugging along, handling each problem as it comes and one of the things that always cheers me up is tuning into your show every morning that I can. This morning I tuned in and there you were saying you're giving away free cars and one big enough to carry all my kids and grandkids in it at that! I thought maybe this is the answer to my prayers so giving it shot. BTW, loved the Trader Joes bit today! My kids won't even go to the store w/ me anymore becuase their afriad of what I'll do to embarrass them! LOL
Thanks for reading Ellen! Love your show!
Take care, Rebecca

Dear Ellen,
I would love to win the new car you are giving away, but after reading all of the other comments I am not so sure I deserve to win. I will be 70 years old in September and my husband and I still work. I had a 1989 Volvo that had almost 300 thousand miles on it and it finally died. I brought my daughter-in-law's 1999 SUV Rodeo it drives good but is all dented up on the driver's side but it gets me to work and home, so I guess I should not complain, it would just be nice to have a new car, thanks for the opportunity to comment.
Ellen,
I am writing on behalf of the most wonderful people I know, The Wolf Family. As "a good Catholic Family," the Wolf's raised 9 children. Despite their large family, both Lacy and Carrie Wolf would dedicate their time, talents, and treasures to both the grade school and high school where their children attend. They are the most giving and selfless people I have ever met, and are in reality surrogate parents to all students and faculty at both schools. Unfortunately, their third oldest son, Casey, died in a motorcycle crash just over a year and a half ago. As if this wasn't enough, they lost their youngest, 2 1/2 year old William Merced, in a tragic accident at the youngest children's carpool lane. Showing more compassion and faith than I have ever witnessed. Before the paramedics even arrived, Lacy even embraced and comforted the young mother who had accidentally struck young William. Despite two tragic losses, this family has been a model of strength and faith. This family desperately need a new automobile to transport their children around. Both vehicles that they own are Frankensteined together to get their kids from school to activities. They have even had to resort to renting cars just to meet their needs. This car fits 8, and it seems like an ideal fit for this family. Thanks for the consideration.
dear ellen, me and my family should win because were tired of walking and riding the bus an WE NEED the CAR. from:jatia nyjhabunch were children dough. I pray every night for a car cause were tired of walking. we hope we can get the car. sincerly, jatia
dear Ellen, I have eight grandkids, I'm on Social Security Disability due to being almost killed infront of Elvis Presleys home 30 yrears ago. I have very little to go on throughout the month. I'm driving a car right now that a friend got for me to drive in both our names, inordor for me to be able to make my Dr's appointments, but I can't pay him back, nor do I want something held over my head. I could really use this GMC and I'd love to make the trip to see and meet you.
Good morning Ellen,
The reason I should get the car is, We were driving home after spending Xmas with our family 2000 miles from where we live and we hit black ice and rolled our truck. We went down an embackment of about 50 feet, we rolled three times. Our dogs were with us, but we all walked away thanks to seat belts (yes even the dogs had seat belts). when this happened we were still about 10 hours from home. It also happened on New Years eve. We have been looking around for a new car/truck....or SUV. thanks eLLEN
Goodmorning Ellen,
My morning starts out pretty busy with 3 girls. Two of my girls are teenagers the youngest is 10. Anyway it gets a little stressful around here sometimes...I return back home from dropping everyone off at school. I have a cup of coffee, do some housework, call my Mom (Best Friend), then watch your show. I know you can always make me laugh. Laughter is the best medicine!!! Well I saw were you are giving away the SUV. WOW!! Pretty cool!!! I drive around a nice caravan now. My oldest daughter is very out spoken, and has told me how I need to get a new car and also at the same time get her one before her senior year. We are military and have moved and finally moved to retire. The oldest daughter was not to thrilled about the move, because it is Rual America. No MALLS,NO FOOD PLACES close by...You try to do a great thing for your children, but with the odds of 3 you are bound to make someone unhappy... :) So Ellen if you are giving away a SUV, I would be a Cool Taxi Mom out here in Rural America...LOL...Again Thank you for making me laugh in the mornings when I need it most!!!! Have A great Day to you and your staff!!!! TAXI MOM, Tonya Cook
