My name is Dolores Mena, I am a 51 year old women who is disabled and trying to get my life on track. I am a mother of 3 adult children and 9 grandchildren. The economy ahs been difficult for us these past few years. In 2006 and 2007 my family didn't even have tree for Christmas. My family didn't want to celebrate since I was truly dying. This last Christmas 2008 was the first time I was actually alive to rejoice and celebrate. In 2006 and 2007 I spent Thanksgiving and Christmas in Loma Linda University Medical Center.

Since a few days before 1/17/2003 was the last time I supposedly felt normal, little did I know that it was the beginning of a long battle. I was diagnosed with Hepatic Ensepalopathy, which is a symptom of cirrohsis of the liver. Thank God I survived a liver transplant done at Loma Linda Medical University. My transplant took place on January 29, 2007. For years I was in and out of the hospital. Of course the only thing that I could do is watch TV. I wastched you with enthusiasm it gave me hope through laughter. For this I Thank you for being YOU. You are amazing. You bring hope and laughter which lifts the spirit and enlightens the soul. If you can find it in your heart to include me in your extra giveaway I would truly appreciate it.

ELLEN YOU ARE THE FUNNIEST - 6 days till christmas and i am still waiting for those tickets to the 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMASHOW- Iam a very good watcher of the show you make me LAUGH every day. Some times that is the only time I am happy. I am asking for the tickets to the show to WIN THINGS FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN as they are in a shelter and this is not the first time they have been in a shelter. Every Christmas something happens that they dont get much for CHRISTMAS UNLES MY HUSBAND AND I buy for them but this year we just can not as we are going to loose our home also after the first of the year because we both are not working due to illnes. I was fired because I could not go back by the time that they wanted me to that was in Aug and I am still under the doctors care due to back surgery and my husband was injured on his job so he is on disability. Please make my Grand and Great Grandchildren to have a HAPPY CHRISTMAS THEY ARE 13 ,8,AND 7 YRARS OLD. I have never been to a taping of any show or I have never won anything. Hello Ellen and staff , I was looking through the comments and I did not find the several that I have already sent. What up with that?? I am sen ding another at this time to let you know that I would love to visit, but at this time I cannot for the same reason I had last year. I am bedridden and I have been since May 9,2007. Since, i cannot be there I do plan on entering each morning for the 12 days of giveaways. My goal is to win the extra day where you give the whole 12 days on the thirteens' day, I am a dreamer and believer. Ellen you make me laugh and you bring joy to my daily routine. My story is long. I am a paraplegic T7, and I am been using my wonderful wheelchair (Iron Monster) for the last 31 years, I have worked for most of my life as a Social Worker. I plan to go back to work when I heal. During my 31 active years as a paraplegec this is the first time I have been confined to a bed. I have five beautiful grandsons and 35 nephews and nieces. I only had one son, but he died Feb.5, 2002 of a heart attack. My son and I were very close and I miss him. I am Bless my wonderful people in my life and you are one of those people who bring me joy. I hope I am chosen to win the giveaways. Thank you for being a part of my world. I hope you get this comment because I plan to win.

I'm not very good with the computer, but want you to know how much I admire you and have since your Star Search Days, you've come a long way and each day you show your talents, humor and love for Portia, your family, pets, and those around you. Thank you for being the person you are.

I have admired your abilities since you were on the Star Search program and everything you have done and accomplished since and your love for Portia shows when you speak of her or things you do.

we have always helped others..place to stay, food, clothing, whatever they needed..now it might be our turn...my husband had a 5 way bypass in 2005 and acute renal failure in 2007 and cannot do the repairs on our mobile home we need, we have no heat, no water, no cook stove. no insulation underneath, no heating ducts, we need carpet on the floors..a washer and dryer, this place is all electric..so we are using a small electric heater to try to keep warm and im afraid our bill is going to be in the hundreds..we are on a small social sec. amount of income, and could sure use some help to get this all together..we have always helped others and could sure use some right now..and even if you cant help us...someday we'll be in a position to keep helping others all along....we do have a new frig.
