We usually get our tree around 3 weeks before Christmas. When we have a real one we usally take it down a day or 2 before Christmas.

Ellen,
I LOVE your show. I don't miss it. And I think it would be great with your "Wish You Were Here" contest if,since she wont fly to be on the show, you took the show to Gladys!! I tink she is great. Everytime I hear her voice on your show it brings a smile to my face. What a joy that would be to put a face to the voice.
As for the Christmas tree it goes up a week or two after Thanksgiving and stays up until after my birthday (which is Jan. 15) Makes it feel like the party just keeps happening.
Love You,Love Your Show,
Colleen Marushak

Ellen ,

Hope you have the very best of hoildays you are the best . Ok guilty of putting my tree up very early . Nov the 1st to be exact. See when I was growing up my mom and us kids would decorate listen to christmas music was our most favorite time of the year. Although my dad like most men didn't want no part of it. My mom was my best friend and she passed away Jan 2000 . So to be close to her on the holidays my sister and I put our trees up on her birthday Nov. 1st. But I also drive my son crazy till christmas too I redo it at least 2 times before so I don't get board with it. I do take it down the week after christmas though . Hope you have a Very Happy Birthday . Lori

there's an old saying that bad luck befalls the house that holds last years tree on the new year so i always try to get my tree out of the house before the new year get here. besides i hate cleaning up those needles. sharon

Growing up we always got our live tree on Christmas Eve and we took it down on "little Christmas". One year we left it up past Easter and when we took it down all the needles and ornaments were on the floor. After that my folks bought a fake tree and it stays up until the end of January. When I was single I did the same, putting the live tree up for the Twelve Days of Christmas. However since being married we have only put up a tree when we didn't have cats.

Ellen-

Hey, my daughter Emma and I love your show, and we watch you every morning before I go to work. My daughter Emma will be 2 on January 18, and she loves your show. She dances with you every morning! This will be the first Christmas that she will really be able to enjoy because she didn't really realize what Christmas was all about last year (her first Christmas). We just put our tree this past weekend, and Emma is getting so excited to see Santa Claus. She enjoyed putting the Nativity under the tree and playing with baby Jesus. Hope you have a great holiday, and a good birthday in 50 days!

Hi Ellen,
Last year, my daughter Carol's husband was stationed in Afghanistan for a year. She and the children kept the Christmas tree up until he returned home. It was always a reminder to all who entered their home that not everone's family members could be home for Christmas.
Thank you for the cheer you spread all through the year.

My daughter passed away 1-04-06. Her last Christmas with us was 12/25/05. Last year I started an Angel tree for her. Friends and family bring angel ornaments. Its already beautiful, but as the years go on, I can only imagine how special it will be. Holidays are very difficult, but seeing the angels shine on this small tree is very special. I had a picture of last years angel tree for this years xmas cards, and will continue that tradition. Inside I wrote:

Dana’s
Angel Tree

This special angel tree,
Means everything to me!

The Love from family & friends,
Helps broken hearts slowly mend

From the heartwarming tree top
To each angel hung with care,
Reminds me of Dana and her holiday bear

As the years pass on and more angels appear,
I pray we will all have one less tear

I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas
And a Happy New Year!

Just thought that if there is a parent out there that has lost a child, this may be a tradition they may want to start.

Hi Ellen:
Meery Christmas to you and yours specially Momma.I put my christmas tree up the weekend before Thanksgiving.I like to have it on when my family and friends come over for dinner that day.
My kids are always very excited with this tradition they have picked on it and for years there is no way I can get out of putting the tree after.Again Meery christmas,Happy New Year and Have a wonderful Birthday.
