Back in 99 and 2000 I became disabled and moved to Lilac St. in Metaire, LA with my best friend and her six children. Not too long after that my son moved in with us. So the seven kids played in the neighborhood alot. We lived three blocks from where you did and played in the park where you grew up. After Katrina you showed a throughway to your old home...it was the same throughway that I used to stand at and yell for the kids to come home. Wow, small world.

Recently, you did a segment on your show where you taught some kids to drive. I was thinking that since yesterday was my 40th birthday and I don't drive (it's bad cause I'm the mother of 3 kids) that maybe you could teach me too!! What do you say? Will you help me? ELLEN I LOVE YOUR SHOW,IT BRINGS A SMILE TO MY FACE AND LAUGHTER TO MY HEART. I PUT MY TREE UP FOUR DAYS AGO THEN TOOK IT DOWN THE NEXT DAY. DUE TO THE CATS .I SHOULD HAVE LEARNED MY LESSON LAST YEAR HAD TO REDO THE TREE EVERY DAY TILL CHRISTMAS. BY CHRISTMAS DAY IT LOOKED REALLY BAD. Hey Girl:

Since you like the game where this wall/shape comes at you and you try to fit through it, I have another show that will crack you up. MXC on Spike tv has several obstacle courses where you fall in water, get knocked in the head (not that it would really hurt someone) sorry, but I find that very funny. All these guys cannot speak english so they have an english speaking person saying things for the guys. Kinda like a martial arts film where the voice doesn't go with the person speaking. Anyway, you rock and if I'm every in your neck of the woods, I'll stop and visit. I'm from the South (alabama) too, about a 2 hr drive from here.

Hi Ellen,
First I want to wish you a wonderful (early) 50th Birthday. I am 51 and it feels GREAT!!!!
When you become 50 it's just another b-day but you come to realize just where those years went. You begin to be thankful for everything you've accomplished and can't believe you survived. I am thankful everyday to have another day.
Now, as for the christmas tree.....for the last 25 years we have made it our tradition to cut down our own tree. We go to a small tree farm, very simple place....no commericialization to this place. Just a Ma and Pa place. They provide the saw and twine if you need it. The trees are all different kinds. You can get ANY size tree for ONLY $15...That's RIGHT..$15. We used to take the old tree and recycle it and we would get a new sapling and take it back to the farm for the owner to plant. Sadly our city stopped that option.
This year we tagged our tree and the one we chose has a bird's nest in it...no eggs, no baby birds, just the nest. I've heard that it is good luck to find this. (Well, NOT for the birds though). I am blest with my wonderful family and I cherish this tradition.

I just wanted to say how great it is that you and your mom have such a open and heartfelt relationship. I love it when you have her on the show. Your mom and you compliment each other. ( like wine & cheese ). My kid ( Donna 40 ) and I have such a relationship. Maybe more mom's should listen to their daughters, and not be so fast to judge. I do love your show,and hope I will be able to watch for years to come. You see, my hubby and I are both leg amputees. He is a single and I am a double, but together, we still have a leg to stand on :). Your a beautiful soul full of love,and hope.
