I Am Telling You To Watch This

In her first appearance on American television, 15 year-old Charice Pempengco from the Philippines performs an incredible version of, “And I Am Telling You.” It is one of the most incredible performances I've ever seen.

Amazing girl with a big voice. Her life story is very inspiring. Against all odds. Thank you Ellen for giving a chance to Charice and all other talents who never been given a chance by society to be exposed because they don't have the right connections or money or beauty. What I admired most about your show, you never chose what race they came from..Great job and more power. God bless!!! Each time I hear Charice, I connect it with you Elle. You are right...when you say that you can smell and feel the stardom of Charice..."goosebumps." THANKS

Dear Ellen:
When I say poor annie I really mean it. (623.00)income. You are so kind and I really need a break. In Sept. 2002, my Mother died, five months later,my husband died at age 49 of a heart attack.Over the next 18 months my son Chris and I lost our home to forclosure,I was put in a womens shelter, Chris moved to Tennessee with friends who took him in,and over the next three years I had a nervous breakdown. I think I'm related to Charlie Brown. Before I left MI, I was accused of manufacturing marijuana. I'd been little miss susie homemaker for over 20 years, always taking care of my family.Because 1 pot plant was near my electric meter the police came to my home with a warrent and I laughed. I could not beleive it , then they showed me the plant and I didn't even know what it was. It was about 4 ft high. Well, that record was closed to the public and I was innocent. Then, I moved to TN during this mid-life crisis, cutting the umbilicle cord, and menopause, I figured the world didn't want or need me so I wanted to die. I don't know how I was able to dial 911...they could barely understand me. at the time I wrote Oprah and Montel and never heard a word which made me beleive that all we've heard was tv hype and not reality. My welcome to TN, since I was not in my right mind, was to tap the car of a man whom I didn't know yet I beleived he would hurt someone because of a knife in his car. I tapped my car with his at no more than 5 mph just to stop him, call the police in hopes of them searching his car since knifes and guns in the open are illegal in MI...and guess who got locked up. For about 30 days. I'd never been in jail before and some girls wouldn't let me use the micro to heat water cause I was freezing (my second day there) so I figured I was an American, I through the cup of water on the floor and told them all to go to hell. 2 or 3 male guards lead me to a 6 X 6 room called lockdown. God does have a sense of humor or I might not made it out of their. They were some pretty tuff girls there. After staying locked up for about 30 days I was finally able to talk to the prosecutor fo the state and all the charges against me were dropped. They taught me a lesson out these southern police and it costed me a 50.00 fine. Then, after applying for part time jobs (I receive SSI disability) for over a year, I felt volunteer work might get my foot in a door. I went to College For Health Inormation Records and need 20 credits to graduate when I lost everything and had a breakdown. I'll not ever be able to work full time again, because I'm so vulnerable to any stress. Sometimes, living is stress. When I volunteered at a batterd womans shelter where I now live, the director said my background check didn't pan out but she'd like to hear my explaination...(as above). No wonder I couldnt get a job! That costed 150.00 to be removed and made non public. While I was in jail my used car was impounded and I had to sign over my title to the car because of excessive storage fees. Several months later my son gave me his old car when he bought a new one. (I'm very proud that he's working his way thru college as the manager of a businessmans club. We up jumped Charlie brown again. On June 12, 2008 I was in an auto accident and my car was totaled. I was finally starting to feel good about myself again. I was over the crisis, got a low income membership to the YMCA, and because of health reasons benifited emensely from water aerobics in the deep end of the pool......then comes the accident, I get a broken rib, my son can come only once a week to help, I'm allowed only darvecette to deal with the pain and I was laid up for 8 weeks. So, how've you been Ellen? I'm writing because I know how kind you are for a good cause and I really need transportation. I don't mind riding the bus but I have severe Osteoarthritis and their are few walkways in Cleveland, TN. Hell, I thought about a 3 wheel adult bike with an electric motor to get around but I cant afford that either and the way the roads are here, it would be dangerous. I know that a lot of people come to you in need and I'm no more or less worthy than anyone else. I don't want a new car....I couldnt affford the insurance. but it would be nice to have a way to church on Sunday. And I really want to contribute as a tax payer yet I've been out of work so long and there is much competition....did I mention I'm 51yrs young? Well, you'll never know how had this is for me to ask. Nobody ever helps me....and I mean that literaly (except the government with SSI..but even their budget is tighter than yours, or I'd have dental and authorization for all the meds I need. I have to pay myself after 5 and need about 9 prescription plus protein powder and vitamin supplements. (I used to weigh 465#...pics to prove it) I had the ruen-y-gastric bypass and now I weigh 194. Still big but that is what the YMCA was for. Discount membership......now no transportation. And I'd like to start an ebay store....I've did it in MI and not so stressful since I can work at my own pace.It really pisses me off that their are so many that live like this in the USA and religious show african photos of children in Africa..and I agreee no one around the world should do without but what ever happened to Chairity begining at Home. I'm asking for your help because I feel cornered with no one else to help.
I Need:
A cheap car that runs good so that I
can afford the insurance. A small one
so I can afford the gas. I'd really like
a little chevy s-10 because most all of my
shopping is done at thrift stores and yard
sales. I act as though it is a treasur hunt.

I also need a computer to get connected to
the net. I can budget in dsl through the
great offers at AT&T, but I also need a
printer, scanner, copier as well as a good
monitor and the home office edition, and
student version of word perfect with
windows XP(sorry to Bill Gates, I've heard
that visa has a lot of bugs. Never had a
MAC though. I learned on a IBM, love working at a desktop.

I've actually thought about seeing if "The gong show" Dave Atell, pays any of the people on his show for making fools of themselves. 25,000.00 would not make me rich, and my son would have to accept it for me because with SSA it would only make things worse for me...but I've actually offering to do a hula dance in a thong and a bra so I can get my needs. It sure would get them a laugh. From 465 to 198, no cosmetic surgery, lots of fat and skin hanging and a scar in front from below my chest line to what could have been a bikni cut c-cection. It would be humiliating yet what esle can people do to earn money when all of the jobs are in china or mexico.

I'm hoping that some of your friends wouldn't mind donating some used items they no longer want so that I can "pursue my happiness"
like I said, I love yard sales and thrift stores.
If nothing else, I hope that you are at least able to read the letter....we all should say a little prayer because I know first hand that some have it worse than I here in the good old USA>
I love you Ellen
You've been blessed with a great gift.
Your hysterically funny, and right up there with Carlin with your sarcasim.
During this recession I'm so glad your program is on tv....I look forward to it.

Phantastic, this powerful but even sensible young woman! I hope her success is not too much for her.

I'm from Germany and hadn't ever heard of your show before. Searching for Charice Pempengco at YouTube I found your site. And I also like your show since some young and not very well known performers get a good chance to show what they are able to.

(Having this in Germany would be also nice - however - we only have Dieter Bohlen - find him at Wikipedia - but neither himself nor his show is really good for young talents.)

Go Charice!!.. you've really make everyone happy with your extraordinary voice!!.. you've really made us blown away!!.. God Bless you!!.. Please bring back Charice!!.. She will really be a nice performer!!.. thanks!!
