Let Down by Ellen and other who feel the same, be sure you make the same hue and cry over Dr. Phil, Kelly and Regis, etc. etc.

No playing favorites. You want things to be FAIR.

The main reason right now that the show in NY isn't going to happen isn't just because of the writer's strike.
There is also the matter of the Stagehand's union also being on strike. Many of those union members work on these shows for TV as well as the stage productions that are now shut down. This union also work on the music programs and concerts in all sorts of venues. Those productions aren't free and many plans have been made for them as well. In NY this is just a double whammy because even if they tried to do a show it could be 2 lines they will have to cross. Besides the reason why the actors are picketing with the writers is that their contract will be up in June and they don't want to have to go out like the writer's have and do this all over again. This makes me ask he question if the actors and performers should be crossing the line to do the show either if they want support for their union?
Nobody wants to be on strike they really don't but this is the only way people gain rights. And if you think the writers are making any more money than you are, just think about your job and who is in charge of you? How much does your boss make when you are the one doing all the work for them?

New York shows have been cancelled

I am truly upset by the bad rap you are getting lately! I guess the only thing I can tell you is to keep doing what you do! As far as the writers strike, why on earth would you be expected to let your fans down by not being professional and airing your show? It is very evident that the media is after the "Top Dog" in the business, stay strong Ellen for all of us who love you and who you make a difference in our lives. There are a lot of shows out there but you are the only one who promotes happiness, laughing and dancing! If more people focused on those things our world would be a lot brighter.

BTW, I remember the mullet and believe it or not you pulled it off!
Always a fan, Sabra Petersen

If you're "let down by Ellen" then stop watching the show. That way you won't be supporting her. Let the rest of us make up our own minds. Sheesh.

Hi Ellen-
I just love watching your tv show.I just wanted to say Hi and When are you going to have Barry Manilow on your show?P,S,I've been a Big Fan of his for over 20 years and I never got to meet him.I can't afford to go to his show anymore because there to expensive!Thank You!Cathy Roe

You have got to be kiddening me! Unions are overrated. They were created to protect workers rights. If you are making $200,000 a year min. and complaining about it, then quit! You are crazy and I have no simpathy for you. Ellen is doing her job, get over yourselfs unions. They don't work any more. You go Ellen!

to "gail l)i was not even talking to you and yes i did read some of those news articles that you are referring too and no i am not STUPID just in case you thought i was which i think you do but i also read other atricles and i heard what ellen said herself on her talk show so go ahead and think and believe what you want to it does not really matter to me

Nah, I don't think that's what she is trying to say Christina. I think she's saying..... " want a piece of me? Here I am. Bring it!"

I love Ellen.
I love these pic's of ellen.
This picture seems to say 'here i am'.... or 'what did i do?'
Very cute!!

"It is unfair and incorrect to compare The Ellen DeGeneres Show to late night shows such as Leno, Letterman and Conan, all of which are late night network owned and controlled programming.

Ellen is a daytime talk show carried on a syndicated basis across individual television stations, no different than, and in direct competition with, Oprah, Rachel Ray, Phil, Live with Regis and Kelley, the View, Martha, Tyra, Jerry, Maury, and Montel, all of which are in first run daytime syndication and are continuing in oduction.

Ellen has not done anything in violation of the Writer's Guild of America agreement, or the WGA's internal 'Strike Rules'.

Telepictures Productions, through its distributor Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution has contractual obligations to continue to deliver original programming to the 220 stations that carry the program.

We have asked Ellen to come back to work to fulfill her contractual obligation as host of the show because without original programs the stations can move the show out of its time periods or ultimately hold

the company in breach of contract. The company in turn expects Ellen not to breach her contract to host the show. We also wish to preserve the 135 jobs of the staff and the crew whose livelihoods depend on the show continuing.

theres not just the writers that are important !!
what about the other workers fans staff

That's my post below. I forgot to fill in the info.

*sigh*. I was going to stay out of this but i can't...so bring on the hate and nasty posts. First let me say that i have a huge stake in Ellen's continuing to do her shows. I got Tickets to The first New York show. I live in Canada and have already taken a day off work and spent over $800 on plane tickets, plus i still have to book a hotel. I am not rich. i am not a writer for a big hit T.V show. I work my @ss off every day, in a group home for physically and intellectually challenged adults. I's a hard emotionally and physically challenging job and i am drained at the end of each shift. My one hour a day withh Ellen is my salvation. She is doing this for her fans, without whom she wouldn't be here. The first post by Nat said it best. She is executive producer of her show. She is also a stand-up comedian, and a writer. One of the writer's "beefs" is that they receive part of the profits when shows go to DVD. Fair enough. They deserve that. The Ellen show, is never going to DVD. Her HBO specials and such do, but not her T.V show! Anyways, "entetainers" writers, sports figures, actors, etc etc etc make more money in a month than i will make in a lifetime...They want "fair". Life is not fair. The money i make and the way i (and my fellow staff members) are treated is not fair, but we do our job for our clients. Ellen is doing her job for her fans.

Nicely said Tookus. I agree. She is putting another 135 people out of work if she stops doing the show. I think she needs to do what me and let Down By Ellen decided, do the shows that are already booked and tickets handed out to just don't tape the shows. I understand both sides of the situation she just needs to realize that we understand what is going on.

Whoever said something about her losing her time slot, yeah, and "Ugly Betty" is going to be cancelled because they don't have enough scripts. How stupid of an argument. She is in syndication and is a world wide show and has won 13 Emmys for the show, I highly doubt she will lose her time slots. Being fined I have no idea about that one. I'm sure it doesn't say anything on anyone's contract that says she isn't allowed to write for her own show. The past 2 shows it seems she is just improving what she says. She is using how she does the show has an outline for what to say. I doubt she has written everything she is saying. Yes I saw the cue cards when they taped the show with Heidi Klum but I doubt it was word for word. It was probably questions to ask or stuff to mention to her. I doubt that violates anything major.

I'm sure she has her reasons for continuing to tape the shows. Apparently the WGA west isn't upset about. It seems its just the WGA east that is kicking up a fuss about. The New York shows may not happen because they want to cause problems for her. Apparently the East and West groups aren't on the same page with this. No wonder they can't come to an agreement.

Some of the comments on here are so hurtful and i would HATE to hear ellen read any of them!

People, you have to understand the predicament ellen is in. On one side she's trying to support her writers BUT on the other side she's got an obligation to do her show!not just because she's under CONTRACT but she's got another 135 people who are depending on her for a pay-cheque. The show is syndicated and technically she is meant to strike as she is a member of the guild however she is also executive producer of the show meaning that over rides her obligation to the guild. If she doesnt turn up for a show (like she did on monday) she can be fined and now has to make it up to the stations that hold the show...if she continues not showing up she could lose her time-slot!is that what all you negative people want? for ellen to lose he show? that show is such a blessing, an hour of nothing but fun, enjoyment, laughter with none other than the most amazing woman!

All of you really need to find something to do with your time, other than hate on other people, especally as one as sweet as ellen who is torn between two predicaments!

Ellen, just know that some people are a**holes and you have a strong fan base that support you, we're here for you....thats what being a true fan is all about :D LOVE YOU BEAUTIFUL!

You know I read all these comments and then I wonder about the other talk shows.... Dr. Phil, Montel, Oprah, etc.... Have they stopped.. I don't know. I know Dr. Phil hasn't, because I watch him before I watch Ellen, so are we beating him up too. You need to walk in her shoes before beating her up, then even think about it for awhile. Ellen I love your show. It's the bright spot in my day.

A colorectal cancer "survivor".

Thanks for being there!!!

maybe the writers want Ellen to do the show

Are you serious? The whole point of striking is to prove how essential the writers are to the shows. Nobody likes a scab because they lessen the impact of a strike. Make no mistake about it, Ellen is stabbing her writers in the back by crossing their picket line, not supporting them.
