Iggy

People say to me a lot how do you do this show if you’re in a bad mood? How do you do your show if you’re sad or, don’t you have bad days? I’m a human being and I have bad days and I have sad days. But when I walk out here and you all cheer and when you’re here to dance, you’re here to laugh and I know I make people happy. It changes my mood. I come out here and I can do anything because of the energy I get.

But today is a hard day for me. Today is bad. I am not capable of coming out and pretending to be funny and on when things are going so terribly wrong right now.

I’m so sorry; I’m just not able to pretend. So I’m going to tell you the story. I’m going to get over it and we’re going to have a good show and we have a great show. So it’s going to be funny and it’s going to be everything that you turn the show on for.

Here’s what happened. I love animals. I love animals. I rescue them and I’ve adopted so many animals and found so many animals homes over the years. On September 20, I adopted a dog from a rescue organization here in the area. I got it neutered, I got it trained and I paid my vet extra money to take it home to sleep in the bed with him at night instead of a cage. I spent $3000 on this puppy to acclimate it, to train it to be with our cats. It was just too much energy and too rambunctious.

My hairdresser who I see every single day, she and her husband have two little girls, eleven and twelve-years-old. They were just looking for a puppy. They have a dog. They said, “We love Iggy can we have Iggy?”

Iggy has been with them for two weeks. I get updates every single day and pictures every day of how happy Iggy is and how much their daughters love Iggy. The organization contacted me yesterday and said, “How’s Iggy?” And I told them the truth. I didn’t lie. I said, “Iggy has a great home.”

Well, I guess I signed a piece of paper that says if I can’t keep Iggy, it goes back to the rescue organization. Which is not someone’s home, which is not a family. These two little girls had bonded to the dog. I thought I did a good thing. I tried to find a loving home for the dog because I couldn’t keep it. I was trying to do a good thing.

Because I did it wrong, those people went and took that dog out of their home, and took it away from those kids. (Wells up with tears). I feel totally responsible for it and I’m so sorry (sobbing) I’m begging them to give that dog back to that family. I just want the family to have their dog. It’s not their fault. It’s my fault. I shouldn’t have given the dog away. Just please give the dog back to those little girls.

I’m sorry I didn’t call you. I’m sorry I did the wrong thing. Just give it back to the family. Please please please.

That’s the story and that’s why I’m feeling like I am responsible for trying to do something and I did it without reading all the things I should have read. So I’m sorry.

(Changing the mood, takes a breath) What a great show we have for you today.

For "just a thought". I know Ellen doesnt read these. I understand where your comming from And yes it is interesting to come and see what other ppl are thinking. I probly over reacted. Me personally I would have not done that on television, but she obviously couldnt control her emotions. I dont want to upset anyone, but I did have my opinion.
Oh and my name is Jessica oops on the anonymous thing.
Have a great day

Anonymous, Do you really think Ellen comes to this site and reads the comments? These blogs are created as a forum for conversation and that is exactly what has happened here. The great thing about this country is the part about FREEDOM OF SPEECH. You will not always agree with everything you hear in your life anymore than everyone will always agree with you. For as long as I have been visiting this site, I have read, written and debated comments. It has been both enlightening and enraging, but I have kept an open mind. If everyone gets out if this what I have, then this site will have served its purpose. People have made comments over time that simply say that Ellen should not have used her entertainment show as a forum for what happened with the dog. It was personal and should have been kept private. Opinions vary and therefore this site has become a sounding board for that. Ellens heart was in the right place, but she isnt exempt from following the rules regardless if we agree with them or not.

Yeah I just have a question for all the people who have downed Ellen for this. Why in the heck would you even come to her website if you thought so badly of her? Get a grip! And to all those people who say that Ellen didnt care about the dog or Ellen's the blame because she made a mistake, look in the mirror! yiu have made mistakes too. And as far as her not caring about the dog, I dont know about you but I wouldnt cry in front of millions of people the way she did for know reason at all. She deffinatly wasnt doing it for the publicity! Hello! You people shouldnt even come on this site. I come on this site to read Ellen's thoughts for the day or to read something that will make me laugh, you people are making me P'd.
And by the way I am the anoymous comment right below this comment. I love Ellen!

You know this is "touchie" for me. I love animals and I love children. It makes me angry that these people would take this precious animal from small children and hurt them that badly. Yeah Ellen signed a paper, they could have figured something out so that the girls could have kept the dog. And another thing I love Ellen so much I admire all that she does. She makes me laugh everyday, even when my whole life is just like a stack of papers with no filing cabinet, she can make my day better. Anyways I have watched almost every movie that she played in, I have seen probly every you tube video, I visit her website way too many times. I just Love Elle. And I was on you tube the other night and I seen a video about Ellen breaking down on t.v. And I thought it was gonna be like an update on the Iggy situation and instead they were making fun of Ellen because she broke down on television. These people act like if the funniest woman in the world has a bad day and cries that the world is ending. NO Elen is human too and she has every right to cry, sling snot or whatever she has to do. So please if anyone reads this that has posted anything like that, dont do it anymore, its not nice. and to me its very offensive. Do you Cry? You dont like it when people make fun of you I'm sure.

Well Ellen I love you and I hope that you are doing better with this situation.

Ellen, reconnect with the Vanessa person. Vanessa reconnect with Ellen, and both put your personal issues behind. this is not about beliefs : principles, OR heart. it's about BOTH, for both of you. you both will get there eventually.
principles without heart doesnt work, heart without prinicples dont work.
reconnecting both, WILL work .

Following the rules would not have put Iggy in jeopardy anymore than breaking the rules did. What Ellen did wasn't going to change the rotation of the earth but if breaking the rules becomes the norm, think about the consequences. In my eyes it's simply a matter of principal. The hairdresser's family could have adopted Iggy but they didnt think they were obligated to follow through with the required procedures. We cant pick and choose what rules we want to follow and which ones we wont. I understand what every body else is saying, but I think that we need to look at the bigger picture. Think about other policies and rules in our lives and substitute them for this case. We could never expect to get away with breaking them even if we thought our reason was a good one. This got way out of hand and after all this time people are still fighting about it. Why dont we fight for our abused women and children like this??????

Come on now, anyone with good sense should see right away that it is about the dog and children. So, Ellen did't follow some "rules", however her common sense told her what to do, homeless dog, needy children, it all fits. You know this just reminds me of so many situations these days that it may not be "right", becasue of some loop hole somewhere, but where did our good concience go? Take the dog from a loving family, isn't that the goal for all animals to be rescued? In this day of age, it seems it doesn't matter what is really right for the situation, we have to play by the rules even though they aren't right, and don't make any sense. This was a terrible injustice. I love animals, and was very offended by what Ellen, Iggy and the two little girls have been put through. Not to mention poor Iggy. Wake up people, give a damn. Ellen does!

Oh Monica so sad you have no clue. Animal rescue is a very decidated project and rescuers devote a lot of time, money and emotions in the animals we save. We do not do all that we do for them just to give them to any person who thinks they deserve to have them. So Monica, get a clue and try getting involved for a change instead of sitting back and judging others.

The rescue woman is going through menopause....

Good afternoon. I now know what Ellen felt when they tood Iggy away. We had a 1 1/2 Multipoo and he has run away from home or someone took him from us. We have been looking for a day & a half and he is nowhere to be found. My kids are missing him and we are hoping for a miracle. I hope it does happen.

Thank you for my thoughts. It's been a very depressing day. And our dog looks almost like Iggy.

Thank you

the fact of the matter is that Ellen ran for the hills on this one. She miscalculated with her on-air celebrity temper tantrum and saw her negative press go through the roof. At that point, it was "screw the damn dog, I've got a reputation (AKA money) to consider here. Have a nice life Iggy, or was it Ziggy?...so long (insert dog's name here)"

HI Ellen
Hearing about iggy makes me cry(eyes teary). i don't like to hear stories like that. how unfare for you,the kids, and the dog(iggy)and me. just when you had the perfect home for him,no consideration was taken for the kids as well as for iggy.
what an injustice.if they cared about iggy they would have consider which is best(cages or warm family). Must go(crying).

sign unhappy :(

fg Ellen doesnt have Iggy and the family she gave him to doesnt have Iggy because nobody really cared enough to fight for him. A lot of people believe they were right but they knew they were wrong because they violated the contract they signed. There are many many opinions out there but actions speak louder than words.

Ok. I don't get this. I try to lighten you guys up a bit and some of u get mad at me. But now we have birthday messages and people talking about the fact that their day was bad and u think nothing of it. Nice. I really appriciate it.

Ellen still doesn't have Iggy. How about it all you "law professors" and people who know "never- lost-a-case attorneys"? How is it that Ellen never got Iggy back to the family and no action was taken against the rescue....oh yea...you were wrong....hind sight does s*ck, doesn't it?
