I just have a question. Iggy was so adorable. What kind of dog was he? Ellen I'm sory about
how everything was handled. You are a great person and I love you and your show. Keep being funny!

Hi There!! I would like to find my original posting from Oct. 17, 2007 regarding the e-mail sent to Ellen. Thank you, Andrea Embry Califoria

Dear: Ellen

I want to thank you and your staff. I really appriciate all the special treatment that you showed my mother that was in a wheelchair. She was bed ridden for 10 months due to a broken spine, an amputation, and heart problems. It was the first I've seen her happy in a long time. Also thank you for the D.V.D.s and the year supply of all detergent. By the way when will that be coming?

Ellen,

Hi Ellen:

I watch your show every day. I think you are a wonderful person. Now for the reason I wrote. (LOL) Would it be possible for the hairdresser and her family to go through the same adoption process you did and then the dog could be returned to them? I understand the shelter's rules. I think they just want to make sure the dog goes to a good family. I also understand having empathy towards the hairdresser and her family.

Let's try to work this all out without harassments etc.

Chris, Max, Markis and Coonie
Falls City, NE

P.S. Max, Markis and Coonie are adopted pets.

Ellen, I believe in my heart of hearts you did what you believed to be in the best interest of the dog, Iggy. Then, because you chose a wonderful loving home for Iggy, he was loved [which is supposedly the objective of placing otherwise unwanted animals in adoptive settings] and now he is missed. Yes, you did sign a contract (or Portia did, whomever...) and yes, the dog should have been transitioned by the rules. But in the end, who really had the dog's best interest at heart and who wanted to shove the rules down someone's throat, causing further anxiety for the dog as he had to make his way now to yet another home? Why couldn't Mutts and Moms just have the family you selected complete the necessary paperwork - privately - and do their backround checking and leave well enough alone?!

I would bet that they thought you were the kind of person that has animals' best interests at heart and worthy of being permitted to adopt an animal when you/Portia gave them a check.

If all of the energy that has been expended could have instead been used to present in a positive vein what happens when you in good faith adopt an animal that you must relocated for whatever reason...it happens and not b/c you want it to happen...it could have been presented to the general public almost like a documentary type presentation, by you or them, or jointly, to show good things can come out of unfortunate situations.

Mutts and Moms could have appeared to be a cohesive group that really knows the business of placing animals in positive well suited homes, and further, willing to work with you when an adoption for whatever reason simply does not workout. But no, they had to come in like a military on a mission and make an example out of you. Tisk, tisk on them. Let's face it, if you weren't a celebrity they would never have found out that Iggy had a new home with those kids, nor would they have really cared as long as the dog never came up on their radar again. But you are a celebrity and while I do not believe the rules you follow should be different from the rules I follow, I do believe they took this "opportunity" to force the contract rules down your throat, irrespective of the dog's best interest -- their supposed only mission. ...i would love to know who adopted Iggy and at what cost, hmm hmm, i mean donation to the group, wouldn't you?! I bet it was more than a pair of Britney's panties could sell for on ebay!!! In the end, shame on them for what they did and for what they didn't do to further a perfectly good mission on behalf of unwanted or abandoned animals.

Ellen,

I am so glad to hear that Mutts and Moms lost their corporation license in 2006. This apparently would make the Iggy contract non-binding, and therefore Iggy should go back to the hairdresser.

I hope someone will use common sense in this matter, and it does not have to go to court, but I feel if it does, that you will win the case, because of this new information.

I cried and cried when I saw your plea on TV. I know you love animals, and were trying to do the right thing. It is so sad that nowadays when people try to do something nice, it turns into something bad. Seems like common sense and the majority opinion do not rule. Everything has to be an act of Congress or a lawsuit.

I love your show, and appreciate your good heart and soul. Be well, and good luck with Iggy.

Ellen -- I always have been a fan of your comedy, enjoy your show and respect you greatly. I think you are a very good person, and that won't change. However, I believe you couldn't be more wrong with the Iggy situation. One, you signed a contract with a reputable organization, and should own up to that. You made a mistake giving the dog away, and are responsible for any outcomes that follow. You say the hairdresser's kids are heart-broken. Hey, that happens. But it is because you didn't follow the rules. Two, you say it is all about the dog. It IS all about the dog, who has been taken care of by two ladies who only have the dog's welfare in mind. YOU have the children's wellfare in mind, and they are not well because you made a mistake. The dog is fine. Three, you didn't do the dog any favors by adopting it and then turning it away, for whatever reason, good or bad. That is why the adoption agency has people sign those contracts in the first place. It's all about the dog, and, as it turned out, you were not all about the dog. So please, before this conflict gets any worse, be responsible -- and quiet your publicist, who is not helping your cause. We all make mistakes, and none of us are perfect. God bless you.

I don't have the opportunity to watch your show. However, I saw your video clip on The OReilly Factor. My heart goes out to you. Many people are missing the point of your distress. It is all about the little girl. Bless her heart. I hope this is resolved and the dog can be returned. Thank you for having such a caring heart and showing all of us your genuine love and concern in such a public way. What we do and how we react to events defines us. You have just been defined as a "champion" in my book. Love and prayers your way!

Ellen, i watch your show everyday. Know i may just be thirteen but this whole dog issue is going off track. Ellen is not using fame to get her way. As youve noticed ellen is AWESOME!!! What some of you are saying about her is plain stupid. Ive watched the show sinced its started, and ellen would be the last celeb to ude herself to get her way. I totally agree with you ellen, the dog should be returned . I mean SO WHAT!!! Ellen gave the dog away who cares. she gave it to a good home. Ellen again you are so awesome. Your byfar the best daytime host. Between me and yu i think your better than Oprah.

Dear Ellen and Staff,

I have many thoughts regarding iggy and after reading the MANY posting, my thoughts have already been posted. So with that in mind, I'd like to go forward with more of what makes your show so different and GREAT! The inspirational stories you bring to light. Unfortunatly, I can't seem to find where I can get and give information regarding the enviromentally friendly schools. I happen to know a really outstanding school of a high minority/low income status, with a staff and parent volunteers that will knock your socks off. These kids have been recycling for many, many years and 2 years ago a plastic bottle recycle program began thanks to our PTA, which now pays for our garden, which also helps the enviroment. Please help me to bring this school, Ocean Knoll School in Encinitas (just north of San Diego)to your attention. Thanks for you help!

Lori Alguire

WAKE UP ELLEN...get that little girl another dog and be done with it!!! That little dog has been through enough. I know from experience what these dog rescue groups go through to help these animals. For heavens sake people...open your eyes and see that without these groups many of these animals would be in horrible situations. Shame on those people making death threats, they obviously need help themselves as they have real problems. You are right Ellen when you said this was all your fault. I'm a big fan of yours, but you need to own up to it and stop right here. Get those little girls another dog that needs rescuing and move on.

I like to watch the ED show because it puts a smile on my face BUT...you do all this stuff to promote breast cancer awareness, what about this being domestic violence awareness month or is that not of importance? There are far more victims of domestic violence! Think of all the children that are the silent witness of this immense problem!Just think if you put the effort into raising the awareness of DV like you did with Iggy the dog, the changes you could make!!!
Please consider making this one of your causes!

I just read some of these comments and realized that everyone posting them must think they are perfect in every form of the word. So, Ellen made a mistake, she was kind and caring enough to begin with to take the dog in. So, it didn't work out and she made a mistake by not reading the fine print. Rather than have the dog be unhappy living with the cats, she gave him away to a friend who she knew would be loving and caring. What is the harm in that? Okay, so she hoped that her career status would help her to get these people to give the dog back to her friend and the family, I don't see anything wrong with that either........I'm sure you would all do the same. I don't agree with the death threats or any threats to anyone being the right way to go, but Ellen shouldn't be to blame for the actions of these people either, she certainly can't control what type of people watch her show. The girls will be fine, they will get over not getting the dog back, this will all blow over, but everyone bashing Ellen is wrong too, leave it alone, mind your business and remember that you too, make mistakes. One more thing, why does everyone only focus on the bad?? What about all the good Ellen does for people?? You obviously weren't a huge fan of Ellen's to begin with, so the fact that you took the time to come to her website to post a nasty comment about her doesn't say much for you or your character.

I do not know what the big bally-hoo
is about this dog?
You broke the rules and you should be held too the rule.
Rich people think they can get away with everything.
Times they are a changing.
Have a nice day.
Vote for me for president.
I will make a difference or are you scared of me.

Yes,Ellen take a break, give us a break from your ignorant actions. You could stay on break as far as I am concerned because I would never watch your show again

How dare you use your show to manipulate the public, looking for sympathy, when you know you failed to not only give "Iggy" a good home yourself. But, also failed to use common sense in your decision making process to adopt "Iggy" for yourself in the first place. If you had made the effort to have your "girl friend's" cats introduced to "Iggy" before you "adopted" him, you would have realized that your "girl friend's" cats, obviously have issues with being around dogs. If you had done a proper introduction between the dog, and the cats before offically adopting "Iggy", you wouldn't have adopted "Iggy" in the first place. Why not lay the blame for this situation where it properly belongs with you, and your girl friend! It is one thing to have a love for animals, it is another to take personal responsiblity for them. Instead knowing that you, and your girl friend were violating the terms of "Iggy's" adoption. You instead inflicted pain on not only "Iggy", but, on others who were not made aware of the adoption agency's policy, and would probably not have adopted "Iggy", knowing you had no legal right to simply pass "Iggy" onto them. You were reckless, and irresponsible all around. You are truly a disappointment to those of us who did our research, before adopting dogs, and knowing the responsibilies that go along with those adoptions. You need to stop your crusade to demand that the dog adoption agency give "Iggy" back to your hair dresser's family. After seeing that they all ready have one dog, maybe it would be best if they focused their attentions on the dog they already have, and focus their emotions on you, instead of the agency. Since it was you that failed them, not the agency. You owe that family a huge apology, along with a public apology to the dog rescue/adoption agency who's adoption policy you, and girl friend chose to ignore. If anyone deserves angry letters being sent to them, it is you, and your girl friend who should be blamed. The world doesn't revolve around you Ellen, nor your girl friend. Regardless of you public status, or, wealth. YOU VIOLATED POLICY, PERIOD!!! After seeing a couple televised interviews with the daughter of your hair dresser. She leaves the impression of a spoiled child, who doesn't appreciate the dog she already has, that she has no understanding that when the rules are broken, there are consequences, and that you can't have everything you want in life, just because you get television access.

I saved the lives of 2 dogs from a bad breeder, they came along with issues, and I've worked hard for years to help them evolve into happy, well cared for, loving dogs. I did the work it took to help them adjust. How much work did you, and your girl friend personally spend to help her cats, and "Iggy" adjust?... If cats haven't been exposed to dogs from when they are young, as well a dog having the same exposure to cats, or other types of pets from an early age ( puppy, kitten), and have already reached adult hood. It is very difficult with some animals to adjust to others they've not been exposed too.

If you had learned this before hand, you would have never adopted "Iggy". Learn something Ellen before you go destroying the lives of others. How many animals have you adopted, and given up to shelters Ellen?... Whatever happened to the farm, and all the livestock animals you kept?... You don't have the time for animals, to give them what they need most, which is your time, and attention. Especially shelter animals, since many from shelters have issues that need your full attention, and commitment to ensure their well being, proper training, and make a happy adjustment to a new home. You already inflicted pain on "Iggy" by giving him away, when he didn't even have much time adjusting to your home. What was it that was so bad about "Iggy" that you felt that strongly to give him away?... You let him down, and for that you should be ashamed. That poor dog has already suffered trauma by ending up in a shelter in the first place, then going to your home. To only be given away again to someone else!... How many times does "Iggy" have to be traumatized, and made to feel insecure by being passed around from one home to another. This is why several shelters have policies that state you return the animal to the shelter. But, you don't get that do you, or, your girl friend. It doesn't matter either how much money you've donated to SPCA's. If you are a bad pet owner, due to you lack of ability to truly take on the required responsibily, you don't get to bash a shelter that has done work you don't have to deal with on a daily basis. If anything you should donate money to the dog adoption agency you got "Iggy" from, as part of an apology for your mistake, and to personally while televised apologise to he woman at that shelter for your own selfish, irresponsible actions. Actions speak louder than words. How about Ellen you go spend a month working at an animal rescue shelter. Then after witnessing what is really involved in their work. Then hopefully with some enlightenment you will truly realize the error of your ways, and make a more responsible effort to apologize to those you have truly hurt in this situation. I also think it irresponsible, and reckless of your "fans", to threaten, and attack a woman who's been doing noble work, and deserves to be treated with respect, for her commitment to help animals in the first place! Your fans are as bad as you, and your girl friend point the blame at others instead of putting the blame where it truly belongs. I am so disgusted with you, your horrible girl friend, and for the network for even allowing you to twist a mistake you made into an attack on an innocent woman trying to save the lives of dogs, and place them with families, and individuals who will truly give them the love, attention, training, and care they need, and deserve. Shame on you Ellen, you are pathetic!

Ellen,
As like many many others you also are in our home every morning at 11:00 A.M. with coffee.
Your story on Iggy really touched me as I am truely involved with our 16 year old cockapoo taking her to the vet for her checkups bathing her once a week for her skin care giving her meds once daily ETC, and I can not imagine how I will feel the day Sammy is gone as I can only imagine what you are going through with Iggy, I feel you did the right thing Ellen and only if this agency was in this for all the right reasons, I would be interested to see how much money the agency was given by you the day you got Iggy from them, as the agency I am sure has made double money off of Iggy by adopting her again if it was only $5.00.
In Cincinnati August 2006 there was a 3 year old boy killed by his foster parents (Marcus Fisal). Torchered taped and put in the closet for 3 days while their family went to Kentucy,I watched this story unfold from the time the foster parents reported Marcus missing at a park until the arrest of these horrible foster parents(you should read about this story on the internet, this will absolutely break your heart), the foster agency did not come to little Marcus's rescue, but the agency can do this to you after you made a great call when you placed Iggy in that home with these children.
I hope this agency will come to their senses and give back Iggy.

Ellen,

It seems we all agree that you had the best intentions in this whole sad mess. The WAY you handled it was ugly, mean and simply wrong. Mutts & Moms have a STANDARD adoption agreement that YOU violated!!

The voicemail that Mutts & Moms received from your very own Kelly Bush was absolutely disgusting! You undoubtedly knew what was going to hapen when you decided to put this story on your show!

You really have a responsibility to fix this and stop letting Cheryl and her daughters make Mutts & Moms out to be the big, nasty, heartless BULLY that stole "their" dog!

Seriously, SHAME ON YOU!!!
