Hi Ellen, I am writing to invite you to Louisville, KY. It is a fabulous place to live and visit. It is the home of the Kentucky Derby and the Saint James Art Fair. It sits right on the river and there are great restaurants and hotels lining the bank of the Ohio River. oh and Indiana is just across the bridge also with great cuisine and entertainment. Muhummad Ali & Diane Sawyer are both from Louisville. Louisville is a city that supports the arts and is home of the Louisville Cardinals. People are truly friendly here and would welcome you. I hope that you will come here to visit us and if you do I absolutely must have a ticket.
You are the greatest Ellen, keep doing what you do best. Hope to hear from you soon! Kim

Ellen,
you should come see the best city in northern Minnesota. Bemidji Minnesota is at the center of everything. its a quiet town and that is proud of our very own Paul and Babe. there are about 12000 people that live within the city limits and another twenty to thrity thousand people who live around the surrounding of bemidji! its cold this time of year but we have fun!
maybe we will see you here soon!

Darren

Dear Ellen, You should spend New Year's Eve watching the 'possum drop in Tallapoosa, GA! (population 3,000) There will be a 'good 'ole boy' band on the bed of the truck, at least one six pack of beer, and plenty of folk from far and wide gathering with lawn chairs to greet the New Year together. My husband is third generation home grown. His grandfather brought the railroad to town and owned the bank. His father was the first attorney and a state senator. My husband is a Superior Court Judge. The city once competed with Birmingham in size and popularity because of wine making and the Sweetwater Hotel. Tallapoosa was first called Possum Snout. It was the name used by the Creek Indians for the town. This is why the town celebrates New Years by dropping a stuffed 'possum every other year. On off years, the next little city drops something. It helps build attendance in each town to alternate celebrations.
I originally wanted to submit Tallapoosa, GA--formerly "Possum Snout, GA"--for your consideration for the Home Town Contest. As a matter of fact, I have a DVD of a recent community theatre production by Tallapoosa locals depicting the history of Possum Snout (Tallapoosa.) The performance might be subtitled "Waiting for Guffman Meets The Bible Belt;" although no one from Tallapoosa has ever seen "Waiting for Guffman." But, what the heck, c'mon down for New Years! We have a lake cottage five minutes from town which sleeps twelve+. We would be so honored to share this great time and give you the opportunity to say, "Been there, done that!"

P.S., you and my daughter share the same birthday.

Sincerely, Merci

Hi Ellen!

So I am very excited that you came to Flagstaff today! I'm a freshman at NAU and I think it's great that you picked this wonderful town for your adventure! I'm slightly bummed that I actually didn't get to see you, but I'm definitely taping the show on Wednesday. The Hot-Spot is great, isn't it?! Well, I hope you had a great time in Flag (as the locals call it) and I look forward to watching the show!

Hey Ellen!!

Ever heard of Needles, CA? Well it just so happens to be on the way to Flagstaff, so maybe you need take some time to stretch your legs and dance along the Colorado River? The picture perfect scenery will not disappoint you, I promise! You are also invited (if you're in the neighborhood) to my daughter Chloe's very 1st birthday party on January 5th! Her actual birthday is the 8th but either way January babies are the best! :) i think your momma will agree! I was actually pregnant with her when I went to your show October 4 2006! She will stop playing just to watch you dance. We love you and hope you make a pit stop in beautiful Needles, CA

Marisa

P.S. One of my best friends Beth Downey is a student at N.A.U. so tell her i said Hey if you see her on your adventures!

Hey, Ellen! Great job picking Flagstaff! Like Milly, I am also a student at NAU. I came all the way from Iowa to go here for the education program, but Flagstaff has really turned into my new home. I could see myself spending the rest of my life here! It's a charming little town, and I know you'll love your visit! Have fun!

hey ellen,
i think u should come visit my town. Union City, IN. but wait that is not only my town. my town is also Union City, OH. see my town is split between tow states. Indiana and Ohio. and my highschool, UCCHS, has the number 1 graduation rate in the state of Indiana. yeah it is a small town, but is has great value. My highschool, UCCHS, this the city champs of union city because our girls basketball team beat MV's girls. and i am sad to say that a family owned restaurnt (my family owns some) is not doing so well. and if u came it would help a lot. u can stand outside of the restaurnt and shout and the Indiana people walking by. you and i can go outside and dance and wavy to the people driving by. i did that on halloween it was so much fun. our town has a lot of fun. and if u come we will show u.
so think about it and come to my town.

*by the way my mom said i could do this*

Dear Ellen,
I think you NEED to come to visit the small town of Schiller Park, IL. (right outside chicago) Although ive lived in various towns, i've worked for the village of schiller park for 10 years now,i can truly say, nothing feels more like home. My first and foremost reason for you to come to our town is this...the police dept. is so proud of the visit from LUKE PERRY 20 years ago that now i think its time to give them someone new to brag about.
Second, i think you may be able to get me a raise.
Third, Im a dance teacher...so you would definitly enjoy this visit AND go home possibly learning a little summthin' summthin'.
Fourth, im the preschool teacher for the village too...WHAT ELSE CAN BE FUNNIER THAN A DOZEN 4 YEAR OLDS?
Also, im ur biggest fan, but im petrified of airplanes, so this would be my only opportunity to ever see you in person.
Finally i think you should visit my hometown because like at any job, falsehoods are spoken and rifts grow between co-workers. i feel that if you came to our town, it would give us all something to talk about and come together to enjoy.

I hope this gets to you!!!
Bernie P.

You should come to Kokomo, Indiana!!! Why? Because we're the City of Firsts!
Elwood Haynes made the first successful trial run of his "horseless carriage" here!
The first pneumatic rubber tire was invented by D.C. Spraker at the Kokomo Rubber Tire Company. Stainless steel tableware was invented by Elwood Haynes as a response to his wife's desire for tableware that wouldn't tarnish.
The first canned tomato juice was created by Walter Kemp from Kemp Brothers Canning Company in response to a physician's need for baby food.
The first push-button car radio was created at Delco Radio Division of General Motors Corporation...and the list goes on and on! Why NOT have the first Hometown Visit be IN THE CITY OF FIRSTS! Plus, Joe Cameron (yes, THAT Joe Cameron) is from here, and you could have him on the show AT THE SAME TIME!!!

That's my two cents! Oh, and I LOVE YOU ELLEN!

You should come to McAdenville,NC. It's an old mill town that was built around the town cotton mill Pharr Yarns. Every year the mill would pay the power bills of the residents if they put up christmas lights on the outside of the homes and would have a contest with prizes for the winners. The town has changed some and alot of the older homes have been torn down and new homes have been put in there place but the lights are still going strong. The town is known as Christmas Town , USA. Come see the lights , The lights are on 11-30 thru 12- 26.
