ellen i watch your show every day i love you so much i really really want to meet you so bad i am not one of those poeple that want to kill or any think like that i am just 12 so i think you won't see my comment any way :(

Ellen,

I have seven cute, and lovable (Mutt) puppies just at 6 weeks old. I can send pictures. They do not resemble Iggy, but gosh darn cute puppies. I will be willing to have them mailed to those Angels that lost Iggy. If possible, I would even drive. They may choose how ever many they want, with the exception of the 2 my children would like to keep.

Much love from Louisiana, Desiree

Hi Ellen watch your show every day but will not be able to soon as our contract for tv station is being cancelled . Anyway about the dog situation ,I feel you did the right thing by giving another family the dog that you couldn't keep .So why all the fuss surely the shelter could have inspected the other persons premises and changed the appropiate paper work and fix the problem.Anyway who rents out animals never heard of such a thing .Our rspca in Australia doesn't treat us like you in your country. If we find the animal is not suitable for our family we can return it to the shelter or find it a new home

Anyway Ellen dont get too upset tell them to get a life.

Ellen, just had to write again, i have been praying that IGGY would be returned to the two little girls, but so far no luck, do you even no where IGGY is i realy feel sorry for IGGY just to be ripped from the arms of thoes little girls, they have to be heart broken, I have had a dog my intire life, I now have two dogs and a rabbit, and i love them with all my heart, they are my angles sent from GOD, I would be lost without them they are always by my side and no matter what mood i'm in they still love me. you hang in there Ellen and hopefully it will all work out.love judy

I never heard of anything more crazy, not appriate for children under 14 to have a small dog? WTF...

Ellen-

Totally support you! I am an avid watcher. When I can't, I'm at work on the net watching your updated guests etc. I to am in the same situation. I am trying to find a dog for my 2 boys. A five year old and a 4 year old. Not one animal shelter will let us adopt one. One said that I am a single mom with 2 kids under 12 and will not be able to provide a good enough home for one. I think I am going to have to resort to a fish tank. Although you did not go by their "rules", they did not either. No inspection or application, they are hypocrits. Dance on Ellen!

LOVE YOU SO MUUUUUUUCH...SALUDOS FROM MONTERREY MEXICO!!!!!!!!!

We paid over $650 up front for a dog from a rescue center set up inside a Petco. I felt they were trustworthy or a company like that wouldn't let them work there. They told me that the dog we selected was neutered and house trained. They told us that she also had a chip and was good with kids. We brought her home and she was not house broken at all. No problem, we could train her. A week later it became apparent that she was intact. I called the shelter and asked why they had misled us. They told us that for a donation, they would get her neutered. I felt we had already paid for that. They also let us know that she had been returned several times for biting children and would not be a good choice for our family. They then did a home inspection and felt that since we lived in a subdivision, our yard was too small for her. Our home is very nice and only two years old. We had given her everything. We are PETA and ASPCA members. We are not neglectful, she had her own room in the house for her belongings and top of the line treats. We had even spent more money taking her to our vet to check her out. She was like one of the family. Our children were in love with her. She never once even snapped at them. They sent me a letter stating that I had one week to return the dog to the shelter. I was shocked and heartbroken. My children were crushed. We asked them if my father could keep her on his farm. They told me that would be a breach of contract and that they had another buyer already in line for her. They took our money, and they took our family member. I would never use another rescue shelter like them again. We did get a rescued pup from the humane society and he is perfectly happy and spoiled. I will never forgive them for baiting us in to renting a pet so that they could make more money off her later. They give pet rescue centers a bad name. They should keep a checks and balance system. But they should consider what's best for the pet!

I'm sorry, but rules are made for everyone. If you agree to abide by the rules then do so. Don't make a big exhibition on TV just because you can. I realize that you loved your Iggy, and you did what YOU thought was good. The lady and the rescue center is only trying to do what she feels is right, she doesn't deserved death threats from your loyal followers.

There are too many celbrities that think they are untouchable. In most situations they do get treated better than the average do-gooder.

I had to respond after reading the previous post. I think that rules and regulations are fine, but can we also add the use of common sense and common courtesy to it all. If the shelter would have told Ellen that she signed the paper and should not have given the pet away that is understandable. But to just rip the dog out from under that family is absolutely wrong.

What the shelter should have done is require an immediate home visit to the hairdressers home, inspect the home and family, then sign the dog over to that family if the family met its requirements. This is not that difficult. The shelter just acted hastily and now they are upset because of the backlash.

Ellen, I think you are awesome and I thank you for bringing to light the issue with the chip. I need to contact my the rescue to find out if my name is on the chip, because I am not sure that it is at all. I know the rescue's name is on it, but also feel that mine should be added. Thanks for sharing that info.

Good luck in everything and I do hope everything works out.

Ellen... all the way behind you!! I guess what the shelter means is that they are giving you the animal on LOAN... that it does not and never will BELONG to you. I think what you did was a wonderful thing. Giving the puppy to a loving home rather than back in the shelter was a good thing. You were honest when they called, I mean you could have lied about it.. and they would have never known.. huh.. but no .. you told the truth. The dog was happy.. the parents (which would be the primary care givers of the dog... ) were happy.. the little girls were happy.. but I guess that does not mean anything to the shelter people. I believe they did this to PROVE a point.. and the point that they ended up proving is that people will be hesitant to take a sheltered pet into their home, because if the shelter at a later date decides that you are not fit.. they will just take back THEIR animal...

It is a sad day for all animals waiting to find homes...

Very sad!!

I have a couple questions, why can't that family with the 2 girls just adopt the same dog, Iggy, from that "agency?"
Ellen, why did you answer the phone? I would NOT have answered the phone from that "agency." Don't you screen your calls?

Remember, children are resilient, they will get through this.

Ellen, keep your spirits up!:-)

Ellen,
The reason for the shelter's rules are so people do not adopt dogs and give them away to people not approved by the shelter. I don't care if it's 2 little girls or Michael Vic. Rules are there to protect the animals, bottom line.
You have terrorized the shelter owners life and caused her to be shut down. This leaves hundreds of dogs to be moved, possibly to shelters that will eventually put them to death. I heard the tape of your publicist threatening this poor woman, who uses her own money to help out animals.
Then along comes Ellen and all is ruined. You are a self-absorbed, failure as a human being. Not for what you've done to the dog but what you've done to the shelter's owner. Just stay away from animals altogether. You obviously do not possess the patience and good heart it requires to care for one, let alone several. This isn't the first time you have given away pets that don't live up to your expectations. I imagine you do the same thing with people, also. Robert Bartell

Hi Ellen,
As if you need another comment to read, right? Anyway Ellen, I haven't been able to watch your show this very much year because my work schedule changed a bit, but while I was listening to the radio at work, I found out about the terrible situation with Iggy the dog.
I just wanted to write and tell you to try not to beat yourself up too badly about this. No one is really blaming you. Your true fans who love you know that you are a good person and that you just want a happy ending to all this. We can't always control the things that happen in this life, but sometimes stuff like this just happens. It happens to all of us in different ways, as you probably already know.
I guess if it does not end the way we would like it too, we should try and have faith that it ended up this way for a reason. Maybe Iggy was meant to be at this new home for some reason we do not know of. Have faith.
It is important to always remember your original intentions, and remember that you did your best.
My Grandpa died when I was young of a brain tumor, and when he was sick he said this to me. He said "The most important thing ANYONE can do in this life, is to try your best and to be a good person." I was only five and did not truly understand it then, but now I am 33, I truly think this was the wisest thing anyone ever advised me.
You were being a really good person and you did do your best. That is the thing that is really important for you to know in your heart, and to be be proud of. The rest of the story is (unfortunately) out of your control.
Thank you for being you, Hon. I really miss watching your show this year. You bring so much happiness and light to all of your three "F"s your (Family, Friends and Fans.)
Much Love,
Kirsten Skyles

The shame is that the shelter is not really considering what is best for Iggy. I rescued a rat terrier three years ago. Henry is wild, curious and loves to run. I was told recently that he is the wrong dog for me as he needs a high energy mom... And I have two hip and two knee replacements so running is not my forte. I wouldn't find another family for him as he has
been at a shelter twice (and he loves me dearly.)
So what can I do? Training and a fence have not helped his running away but he is mine - and I am his.

Hi Ellen,
I LOVE your show. As a new SAHM I watch your show everyday, and sometimes twice because I TIVO you. I am so sad for you and Iggy, I have a little adopted mutt who became my baby as soon as I brought him home and I cant imagine how hard losing him would be. Stay strong, stay cool and I'll see you at 3pm. GO COLORADO ROCKIES!!!

Hi Ellen. You are truely fun to watch!! I was just shaking my head with this whole Iggy situation. You know, unfortunately sometimes you just cant fix STUPID. Chris you are an INSPIRATION! I am truely happy for you. I seen you the first time on tv, and was just amazed. Ellen, its nice to see people like you help others. Your passion for people is amazing. Yes, I along with millions of others have a dream to attend your show, hopefully soon, if the money Gods are with me! LOL

I'm always amazed when people in professions intended to help make horrible decisions. I retired from a helping agency and the agency is only as good as the people in them. As a pet owner, and grandkids in my home, I truly believe the hairdresser's family is amazing I would have been in jail that day, kicking and screaming all the way. The sad part of this is that the rescue agency will never overcome this horrible thing they have done. It is my hope they will search their souls and do the right thing for these little girls. Thank you for all you do and the person you are.
