Deb.... Time for you to wake up and then grow up. Ellen DID do something wrong and that was not honoring a legal and binding contract. She knew very well that what she was doing was wrong and chose to thumb her nose at the system that she thought she was better than. Its about time someone stood up to her and made her realize that she isnt any better than anyone else in this world. Rescues take what they do very seriously and if you cant respect that, then all those lives they save dont mean a darn thing to you either. Over 10,000 dogs are killed in US shelters every DAY and about 14,000 cats. If more people would get their animals sterilized or quit acting like pimps and making money from whoring out their dogs, we wouldnt have nearly the problem of homeless animals that we do now. Do some research and then maybe you will understand better why rescues make a lifetime commitment to their animals and will be there for them until the day that animal dies. Try fostering for a while and then see if you still feel that it doesnt matter who gets the animals that you poured your heart and soul into.

dear ellen i,m a homemaker with four kids three still at home , anyways i just wanted to write to say that the new bill that is not reconizing gay marrage is moving backwards in time insteadbo of forward , loving someone gay or straight is still love so why does the american mayjority feel so threatened by the showing of love is it because they have become acustom to violence and anger to see that love does make the world go around and putting boundries on it tears the world apart ,well ellen keep on being you and keep on loving sincerly barb agostino, caledonia ontario canada

Deb,

Chill out!Yes because Portia signed the very important contract to not just give-in this case, Iggy away-even if it would be to a home with two little girls-that was even more of a reason for someone else to NOT just have given Iggy away.Ellen had done this exact same thing several times before Iggy.Sure it was nothing horrible BUT this time the responsible shelter thought it better if the hairdresser would adopt Iggy directly from the shelter to know exactly where he was going. It would have been so simple for Ellen to have gone back to the shelter with the hairdresser and readopted Iggy out to his new home.I mean not even a phone call to the shelter?

The way you described the way pet stores go about doing things yes you are right! This is because they do not care one iota, zilch, zip what happens to the animal. It is all dollar $igns for pet stores. For responsible rescue shelters it is about making sure the animal does not end up as lab experiments or in someones stove top.To take the animal back to the shelter to get readopted out to his new home is for the shelter's peace of mind as well.I am sure you can understand that right???

WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!!!!!
Ellen DID NOT sign the contract! Do your f*@k!*g homework.....Portia signed it. Besides...who cares! If you go to the pet store and buy a pet and take it home and you decide it isn't working out you can return the pet or possibly give it to someone who wants it. Nothing wrong with that. At least the pet wasn't abandoned. Get off Ellen's back about this....she didn't do anything wrong.

Ellen please do all of us a favor and never give up hope or your dreams because you never know what might happen but the main reason I'm writing this is not to make you feel bad about yourself but to tell you that I have faith in you and it's a lot of faith because every time I think back to that day it pulls on my heart.

Was wondering if Ellen ever did an charity work for animal rescue organizations as a show of good faith. Not talking donating money, but rather more importantly her time?

I volunteer with a group in my area and it would be so nice if the smaller groups could get celebrities to show up at their events to help raise funds.

Whatever happened to Ellen's French Bulldog named Pig?

to P.E.T, I dont think it was a mistake at all. Ellen is a seasoned prefessional and I cant imagine she wouldnt read a contract before she signed it. Second, I understand that she makes a habit of getting animals and then giving them away. They arent shoes that you try on and give away when you decide they dont fit. I have seen people write in on on this blog (or it was the other site "IGGY") and ask her whatever happened to: and then list about 5 dogs she adopted yet doesnt still have. Where did they go??? Yeah, you get a lot of special treatment when you are a celebrity, but the dogs deserve better. They have a bad enough life before they are rescued, they dont need to be passed around even more. This was no accident. It was just another case of a shoe that didnt fit......

Anonymous,

ya know its not her fault, it was rude for them to take the dog away. But ya know some (and by some i mean some) people actually care for animals like Iggy. Ya Ellen made a mistake by giving Iggy away but she didn't mean to. Like she said "she didn't read the whole contract" but ya know it was an accident. lots of peolple make um. she didn't mean to do it so stop being so rude to people, like Dakota. At least he actually cares!!!
maybe you could take advice from some these people. and no its not time for them to take this video off so forget that idea

Isn't is time you took this clip off?

Australia, nobody took Iggy away, Ellen gave him away in breech of a contract she signed. It was the rescues legal right to reclaim him per the agreement they failed to honor. Dont feel sorry for Ellen, it isnt the first time she has done this.

To Ellen,

I was really sad when I heard about Iggy...........

They shouldn't of taken him away.......

PS: I reckon you could post these comments to the people that took away Iggy.......

My sympathy goes to you,

Ellen,
So, you're coming to Chicago and you're going to have the river dyed blue and march up Michigan Avenue and have Lou's deep dish pizza but, you are not going to meet Minos, a dog from the island of Crete. That will be a shame because he has a story to tell or bark. From the time I had to teach mythology to freshmen, I had wanted to go to Greece and finally, in September, my daughter and I went to Greece. We went to Athens, Mykinos, Santorini and Crete. Did and saw everything I wanted to do and see. We came home with icons, scarves, olive oil, olives, jewelry and a dog. Yes, a dog---a little homeless street dog that we met in Crete. He was lying in the middle of the road surrounded by buses, cars and motorcycles and since we missed our tour bus, I decided to see if he was hurt--he wasn't, he just didn't know where to go. I picked him up and carried him to the sidewalk and so began our odyssey.I don't know if you know that on these islands, the tourist season ends in October because of the weather and the roughness of the sea. What happens however, is while the tourist season is in full swing, the dogs and cats are fed by the tourists. When the touists leave, the animals are left and in many cases because there are so many animals people on the islands poison them. Why they don't spay or neuter them---I don't know nor do the people who are involved with helping the animals know--except they say "no one does." We met a lady on Mykinos--we called her the "cat lady"because every day she would leave food for the strays. There are people who are concerned and want to have a shelter for the strays but it takes money. On Santorini, there is a shelter but they exist on donations from tourists. On Crete there is an "underground" system--in fact, it was through a woman in the UK that we were able to get Minos ( the dog) home to Chicago. They send animals to Germany, Austria, some to the UK and a few to the states. Minos is bilingual--can give a high five in English and paw in Greek. He has his own passport and a tail that never stops wagging. He can't dance, well, maybe a Greek dance or two--can you do Greek? He never barked while in Greece not even when we snuck him in to the hotel. I asked the vet about this and he said "he was shy" but once he hit these American shores--he became a true American and now barks up a storm. I watched and listened about Oscar and Kelly and her horse and I realized how much you love animals so, since you have such a big heart and most importantly, you're in a position to help causes---I want to tell you about an organization called WSPA(World society for protection of animals) Their vision: a world where animal welfare matters and animal cruelty ends. Their mission: to build a united global animal welfare movement. How good it would be to let people know they CAN help animals through WSPA. And you really don't have to go to Greece to get a dog but, thank God,I did.

I am from a rural, country area, and animals are abundant here. I think everyone knows where to dump their dogs and kitties, cause we do take care of them.Depending of course if we can catch them first, 7 times out of 10, we can find homes for them, but, usually the nearest pound gets them and trys to find homes for them, the trouble is when people get an animal they really find out that the respondsibility is huge and it takes money to feed and the vet bills can be enormous, and they are not willing to go the distance for them, what a shame! I could tell you some horror stories about finding a bag full of dead puppies in a ditch, garbage bag, actually, my dog found the bag, and she's sitting on the side of the road, whinning, it's a very sad sight for even me to witness.Animals have feelings thats why they can give unconditional Love they can feel!God Help the people that do things like this.Cause he's the one, that they have to appease when it comes their time to go. A very Compassionistic Person
