Anonymous,

ya know its not her fault, it was rude for them to take the dog away. But ya know some (and by some i mean some) people actually care for animals like Iggy. Ya Ellen made a mistake by giving Iggy away but she didn't mean to. Like she said "she didn't read the whole contract" but ya know it was an accident. lots of peolple make um. she didn't mean to do it so stop being so rude to people, like Dakota. At least he actually cares!!!
maybe you could take advice from some these people. and no its not time for them to take this video off so forget that idea

Isn't is time you took this clip off?

Australia, nobody took Iggy away, Ellen gave him away in breech of a contract she signed. It was the rescues legal right to reclaim him per the agreement they failed to honor. Dont feel sorry for Ellen, it isnt the first time she has done this.

Ellen,
So, you're coming to Chicago and you're going to have the river dyed blue and march up Michigan Avenue and have Lou's deep dish pizza but, you are not going to meet Minos, a dog from the island of Crete. That will be a shame because he has a story to tell or bark. From the time I had to teach mythology to freshmen, I had wanted to go to Greece and finally, in September, my daughter and I went to Greece. We went to Athens, Mykinos, Santorini and Crete. Did and saw everything I wanted to do and see. We came home with icons, scarves, olive oil, olives, jewelry and a dog. Yes, a dog---a little homeless street dog that we met in Crete. He was lying in the middle of the road surrounded by buses, cars and motorcycles and since we missed our tour bus, I decided to see if he was hurt--he wasn't, he just didn't know where to go. I picked him up and carried him to the sidewalk and so began our odyssey.I don't know if you know that on these islands, the tourist season ends in October because of the weather and the roughness of the sea. What happens however, is while the tourist season is in full swing, the dogs and cats are fed by the tourists. When the touists leave, the animals are left and in many cases because there are so many animals people on the islands poison them. Why they don't spay or neuter them---I don't know nor do the people who are involved with helping the animals know--except they say "no one does." We met a lady on Mykinos--we called her the "cat lady"because every day she would leave food for the strays. There are people who are concerned and want to have a shelter for the strays but it takes money. On Santorini, there is a shelter but they exist on donations from tourists. On Crete there is an "underground" system--in fact, it was through a woman in the UK that we were able to get Minos ( the dog) home to Chicago. They send animals to Germany, Austria, some to the UK and a few to the states. Minos is bilingual--can give a high five in English and paw in Greek. He has his own passport and a tail that never stops wagging. He can't dance, well, maybe a Greek dance or two--can you do Greek? He never barked while in Greece not even when we snuck him in to the hotel. I asked the vet about this and he said "he was shy" but once he hit these American shores--he became a true American and now barks up a storm. I watched and listened about Oscar and Kelly and her horse and I realized how much you love animals so, since you have such a big heart and most importantly, you're in a position to help causes---I want to tell you about an organization called WSPA(World society for protection of animals) Their vision: a world where animal welfare matters and animal cruelty ends. Their mission: to build a united global animal welfare movement. How good it would be to let people know they CAN help animals through WSPA. And you really don't have to go to Greece to get a dog but, thank God,I did.

I am from a rural, country area, and animals are abundant here. I think everyone knows where to dump their dogs and kitties, cause we do take care of them.Depending of course if we can catch them first, 7 times out of 10, we can find homes for them, but, usually the nearest pound gets them and trys to find homes for them, the trouble is when people get an animal they really find out that the respondsibility is huge and it takes money to feed and the vet bills can be enormous, and they are not willing to go the distance for them, what a shame! I could tell you some horror stories about finding a bag full of dead puppies in a ditch, garbage bag, actually, my dog found the bag, and she's sitting on the side of the road, whinning, it's a very sad sight for even me to witness.Animals have feelings thats why they can give unconditional Love they can feel!God Help the people that do things like this.Cause he's the one, that they have to appease when it comes their time to go. A very Compassionistic Person

Hey dogless Laurie, Ever think about dropping the husband and taking up dog rescue? Dogs love you unconditionally and never tell you what you can and cant have. 28 years without a loving pet must have been lonely. Statically, people with pets live longer because they help relieve stress. Take him to the pound and let him see all the sad faces of dogs who will soon die if they dont find a home. Perhaps one of them will touch his heart.

Hi Ellen,

I don't know if I should be emailing you this but I just think that with your kind heart and celebrity you would be able to bring this issue to the american people and the world. On friday March 28th, the annual canadian seal hunt began. I am appalled and ashamed that this is still going on. The hunted baby seals are only hunted for their fur, their skinned carcasses are left on the ice to rot(often times still alive). Its not as if you're feeding people with the meat or using any other part of the seal, it is truly just for people's vanity. The world needs to see what is going on on the ice flows of Canada. I know the govt. says its to keep the fish stocks from depleting but the truth is our fish stocks have been depleted because of man's greed, from overfishing our waters and for not stopping foreign vessels from overfishing. I have been forwarding videos I receive from PETA and the HSUS for years to everyone I know, but have yet to see any celebrity, other than Paul McCartney actually have the guts to bring this issue to the forefront. There needs to be a huge public outcry regarding this, this is a senseless hunt, cruel and barbaric. It the canadian govt. really wanted to deplete the numbers of seals why not shoot the adults, why kill only the babies, its heartbreaking and I really hope that in some way you can bring this issue to light. Thanks for listening, yours truly ashamed canadian citizen

Hi Ellen, I love your show, I think it's the best talk show on t.v. I just wanted to tell you I had my dog nuetered 3/25/08 and he died from a simple operation, I want to tell everyone what happened to my baby his name was Monster, I want the vet to be responsible for what they did to him, they won't even help me pay over $5,000 for his hospital bill. Please let me know if you know anyone who can help make them pay.

Hi Ellen, I am sorry all that happened with one dog. The sad state of affairs is that there are so many starving to death and dying because people throw them out on the roadside I know someone down in Southern Ohio who is struggling terribly trying to feed and care for some of these animals but truly has no means can hardly feed them. There is no Humane Society down there. I am trying to sell some items on
E bay to raise a lttle money. I do not have much but the little I can scrape up I will it is a pitiful situation. I wish you could see.
My name on E bay is fbrush58 I have up for auction a putter signed by Brett Favre in case you know of anyone and with all these people upset about Iggy maybe they would like to really help the one's starving and injured. I am calling out for help. Not publicity. Not T V this is a need that is truly real. Do you know of anyone who can help this situation? I know you care deeply about animals and I relly don't know where to turn. Any Ideas?
Sincerely, Karen M. Nagle

i saw your show today and i agree stop hate. i am from kitchener ontario canada just turned 58 on the 17th of feb. when i think of that little boy killed by someone who didn't like gay's . i have to stop and think where did were thoughts? was he a troubled teen? i feel sorry for him as well as the boy that died. in my generation growing up i never knew such a thing like gays or lesbians. i never met one till 1973. i was caretaker in a building and these 2 guys were gay. and one was a hairdresser and we grew to know him and i was scared because i was married to a man. but we girls would meet for coffee at each other's apt and he always came and joined us. we had some good times with john.but when i went to work in a factory here in kitchenerin 1986, i met a few girls that were gay and that scared me even more. but i got to know them and 20 years later these girls are great. i love the way you get the utmost respect from them. i learned that they have feelings as well, and that matters. i am no better than they are. i firmly believe that your show will get alot of these fears people have about the gay/lesbian. i am grateful that you made it public cause your sex preference is your business not others. i have the utmost respect for you and what you mean to alot of people.keep up the good work.i'll keep watching you.

I AM SO BUMMED!! Recently, I changed from cable to Dish Network and your show is not available on their system. Seems that in the infinite wisdom of some program scheduler - whether local or not- you are on a local access channel that Dish Network will not pick up. Who knew! What am I to do without my Ellen?? The winter days are even grayer because you are not in them!
And since I have signed up for a 2 year contract I am really at a loss. Oh well, I just wanted to whine a little I guess.
You have a dear, dear heart Ellen, and thank you for sharing it with so many. LOVE YOU TOO MUCH, Lyn

Dear Ellen,
I have written to you numerous times. I just saw your show with Garth Brooks and my husband said there was something about dogs who watch TV. I of course was making him something to eat and missed it. Anyway my sisters dog watches TV and if he is not watching and knows a commercial he'll come running if he likes the song. Or these attorneys for car accidents he barks at. It's pretty amazing! He knows when I call my sister that it's me on the phone, so my sister says. We are of sound mind, it's very strange and funny to us too!
