Dear Ellen, Your continued compassion and respect for other people and the animals of this world is an important statement toward peace and justice for all. Thank you! Robin

Dear Ellen, When ever I found out about the puppy and this sad story it made me cry and very upset. I can't believe how a human being can be soooo cruel and take away a puppy from a child or children that have a great loving and caring home and are responsable to take care of it. OK soooo you didn't relize that you were suposed to contact the agency and didn't read the fine print (I probably would have done the same thing and because your so excited you just want to bring the the little luv bug home...I love animals too and have had them my whole life, I know Ellen in your heart you were trying to do the right thing or thought you were doing the right thing to save this puppies life ...We love you Ellen. Your in our prayers

I'm a huge fan Ellen but your fame does not put you above the law. Shame on you for not knowing what you were getting into. I understand that those girls are heartbroken but its reality and theres no hiding from the pain life can bring. Many other children deal will bigger problems then a puppy dog everyday!!!!!!!!!!

hi ellen! i cant belive what has happened to this poor little dog and the family you tried to help.i know you did not want this to be the outcome when you only wanted to do the best for the dog and the family .i also know you did not want people to send threats to the shelter that took the dog back.sometimes rules can be bent we do not live in a black and white world we have a lot of colors.you are a true animal lover which my family is too.i hope for the best and the family can get the dog back.good luck.

Ellen, even if you broke the rules in this adoption contract, the company you adopted from could have, and should have, chosen a more humane and reasonable way to deal with this than just showing up and forcibly taking the dog. They could have said to you, "Go get the dog" or any number of things. Just showing up and taking the dog was heartless, silly, and cruel. And as for those who say you are using your celebrity to force someone to break the rules, they obviously don't watch you with any regularity cause you have never done that. Your emotional plea was from a hurting heart, and I feel for you and for the kids in that family that had grown attached to that dog and had him heartlessly ripped away from them. How inane.

i just heard the scoop, shame on you for taking the dog back and shame on ellen for using the air to get back.if that was your motive and only you know that. i have two dogs and two cats and i also have to follow rules every day, why didnt you du your due diligence on what the terms were where, were your peopole. i understand you know about rescue so you of all should know the importance of this rule. unfortuanely the rules are stupid. i and most people iknow have dogs and babies ecespiallly dogs and baby boys. love lisa

To Shawn, Katrina, M & Pamela,

Did you see the same show we did??? To even infer that Ellen was being ridiculous is unbelievable to me. What are you?? Have you ever made a mistake? Have you ever not read the small print on something? Ellen clearly stated it was her fault. She takes complete responsibility. How can you think she is using her celebrity or anything other than the compassion she feels for the dog and the 2 girls? Ellen admitted she did not read the contract completely, she never accused the rescue shelter of anything, only asked that they consider letting the family keep the dog.

Where is she being selfish? Where did she damage the animal shelter community?? I recently adopted two dogs and after Ellen's experience, I don't feel that she has damaged the rescue community. It was one incident, among the thousand of wonderful incidents that rescue shelters have.

By you're thinking, Ellen is exploiting her celebrity for raising money for cancer or providing exposure to the Blue School, therby providing them with great opportunities; to just name a few of the wonderful things she does. If you think it's warm and fuzzy it is, but if not, in your incredibly small, frigid minds, it's not.

I applaud shelters, but to state that a dog should not be placed in a family with children is SHAMEFUL!!!! I guess my raising kids and having dogs is horrible. I put the dogs in jeopardy. Thank goodness none of you or the people who think this way were around me when my children were young with their very loved pets. They would have been appauled at the games, feeding, grooming and care that my children gave their pets (friends), therby learning so much.

I feel sorry for all of you, any pets you have and heaven forbid children. If you do have kids, I hope they NEVER make a mistake or display emotion of any kind. Not allowed, it's shameful. Get off this message board.

Ellen, you are amazing. Your compassion, heart and love of life is evident in everything you do. I hope this can be resolved. If not with this organization, find another puppy for your friends and move on. Do your very best to not let people like Shawn, Katrina, M or Pamela damper your heart. If people like this get down on you, be happy, because of people like them did agree, you know you would be doing something horrible.

WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?

You signed a legal document - unless you had one of your toadies do so.

Any responsible pet adoption group will do home checks to ensure all criteria are being met.

You chose to completely violate the contract, i.e., the part about returning the dog to the agency. Is it because you have your own (not very entertaining) TV show? Is it because you are rich? Is it because you are a "celebrity"? Is it because you think you are "above" honoring a legal document which you signed?

I commend this rescue group. And as soon as you are finishing using your questionable "celebrity" to terrorize innocent people attempting to care for innocent creatures and finding them appropriate homes - and as soon as they are probably going to feel safe opening their mail again - I and many, many friends will be sending them sizeable contributions.

It was your decision that this little dog did not "fit in" to your tidy, entitled, insular and lavish lifestyle. And you made a horrible decision then to violate the contract terms and just "give the dog away", a sentient creature, by the way, to a person of your choosing.

GET OVER YOURSELF. I used to have a modicum of respect for what I considered your talents as a comedian - but that has evaporated in the midst of this maelstrom you have created - to get your way - because of your crushing ego.

Get real, Degeneres. You not only own that animal adoption agency, every animal adoption agency in the world, and the animal-loving American public an apology - you owe the animal rescue group a HUGE monetary remuneration for transparently attempting to destroy their lives.

I will never, EVER watch even a portion of your stupid TV show again.

Shame on you.

Disgusted in Oregon

Ellen, I have watched the past few days and although my heart breaks for you and the dog situation, the bottom line is.. YOU BROKE THE RULES ! I do animal rescue and each and every reputable rescue across the country has rules ! the number one rule when you adopt a dog is THAT IF YOU CAN'T KEEP THE DOG IT GOES BACK TO THE RESCUE ! I am sure the family you gave the dog to is a wonderful family .. but.. if the rescue says they dont adopt small dogs to families with chldren under 14 then there is a reason for that ! Please stop trying to use your celebrity for intimidate or force this rescue to break their rules for you !

That was so funny! I love Drew!!

I'm sorry I have to say noooooo unless you luv girls and dawgs......I KNOW I love girls and dogs but unless you have a ring around the collar you are not worthy my friend :)

I just got in and turn(d on fox and saw the old guy and denns miller, (who by the way is so annoying all it is is his tone)Volume was off and I saw you crying and the headline was ellens meltdown. i knew the minute i saw you curying i loved you more. i do not have to knOW or what this was about all i do know is that you reach us all and btw i am straight u better stay on tv 4 a long time i want to grow old with you instead of matt, kate, whoopi, but i do also love nancy grace have her on your show. Love Lisa

Dear Ellen,
My name is Jean; I just want to say I'm so sorry to hear what is going on in your life right now over your little dog. It is so sad about all this. It make's no sense what so ever as long as your little dog was in a good home they should had been very happy over that, no matter what you my have signed. The way I feel about it you paid for this pup and you did the right thing about taking your pup too the vets and making sure he had all his shots and you had the little thing "Neutered" and every thing. Money they sure did not have to putt out for this little dog. You’re not in the wrong the way I and so many others see it.
And now with this person coming up and saying that she is being "threatened" well I know you would not have any thing to do with that as your not that type of person are you up set are you feeling's hurt about all this, Yes and I can understand that.
You know this person if by the kindness of her or there heart would see that your little dog would be given back to the loving home he was in tell some one came at took him out of it with all the coldness in there heart!
And that is what it was "Coldness" and some one trying to get a name for there self.
Well that’s the way I see it any way.
But I do hope that no one make’s this any worse then it is right now.
My thoughts are with you and the family you gave your sweet little dog too.

Ellen:

How could an organization based on compassion NOT act compassionate on this matter?

I understand- rules are rules. But I also believe in the spirit of the law over the rule of law.

Suffice to say that this would have been a golden opportunity for them to look over this and make an exception to the rule- it would have been great publicity. However, they put you in the same class as Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, and Lindsay Lohan.

Last time I checked, you never did anything offensive to anyone. I hope that your hairdresser and her daughters are INUNDATED with puppies as a result of this!

All the best, from one who spent ten years in Houma (a Vandebilt Catholic High School alumni- 1985)!

Seriously - YOU make a mistake and you put a bad light on the hard and difficult job that rescue organizations perform... Very very sad... 98% of these people and organizations do this on a VOLUNTEER basis, for no pay, no recognition, just trying to keep more dogs from being unnecessarily euthanized after the majority of society impulse-buys a pet for the wrong reason and then decides they don't want them anymore and dumps them in a shelter. And YOU make them the bad guy. Did you ever think the contracts and rules are there for a reason? Why don't you do the rescue community a favor and highlight the selfless nature of what these amazing people DO - instead of using your celebrity to irreparably damage it. I used to respect you so much - now, I see you as a selfish person who makes someone else pay for your mistake. Sad indeed.

Dear Ellen:
I am so sorry but I MUST agree totally with Shawn from Utah.
I, too, am a huge fan, and I to adopted not one dog but 2 from a very wonderful rescue league in Ohio. First of all when you are adopting an animal from a "Rescue", you MUST read ALL the paperwork. Even mine stated, for any reason for the LIFE OF THE DOG, if you no longer can take care of it, take it back to them. I think the biggest problem with this whole thing is that you are now way over your head. Now if I would have done that same thing, NOONE would have known the wiser, because I don't have a show to publicly cry on to try to get what I feel is right. The point is this. That's why EVERYTHING is in WRITING in this day and age...You have to abide by the rules that they set. They obviously have the BEST interest in mind for the puppy dog. They have been doing this awhile. Just because it is YOUR friends that the dog was taken back off of this is why you are so upset. There is no reason to thing that the dog cannot still find a very nice home to go to. It's a shame that now "Mutts and Moms" look horrible in the eyes of the public all because you had to use your publicity in that way. The dog is going to be fine. "Mutts and Moms" may shut down if it gets too bad, then who's to blame when hundreds of dogs they 'could' have helped is no longer able to because Iggy is now in a lovable home that just so happens to not be your friends.

Ellen, I am a very big fan but I can not tell you how disappointed I am in you. Your display on television was (and forever will be) patently ridiculous, sadder for us to watch than it was for you to “perform”, and frankly insulting to to anyone who cares for the the ethical treatment of adopted pets. It also should be an embarrassment of epic proportion for you, because it clearly shows how uneducated and emotionally unhinged you are regarding a subject you know NOTHING about. YOU BROKE THE RULES!!! Now, the poor people at “Mutts & Moms” are suffering the consequences of your actions. Because of the thoughtless act of going on the airwaves with that silly display, a legitimate business singular to the welfare of homeless animals is jeopardized! You should be ASHAMED! If you want to do the right thing, help your hair dresser adopt a pet the right way, publicly apologize for your hurtful outburst, and donate to “Muts & Moms.” The process to adopt a pet is clearly defined and designed to protect the animals from more trauma than they have already suffered. Follow the rules Ellen, its not rocket science. Using your celebrity as a platform for publicity to get what you want is disappointing and despicable.

Shawn from Utah

Concerned adoptive parent to a rescue dog.

Hey Ellen, Oh lawd, I just heard about Iggy and I am truly sorry! What is truly disgusting is how the media and these animal shelters have no common sense! YOU DID THE RIGHT THING!!!!!!!

Hey Ellen-feel your pain, sorry about the hassle with the dog adoption.Hopefully everything will be resolved.Dealing with adoption rules are difficult.Dealing with other peoples egos are worse.Sending you some good energy to find peace with the situation.

Ellen, I'm so sorry to hear about Iggy. I have a affin pincher who is looking for a family. She looks like your Iggy. {Iggy was probably affin pincher mix not a Brussels, people say brussels because its more common} She would love a forever family. Hope to hear from you. Lisa P.S. She is registered and had all of her shots, recently altered, just had a dental great health. I won't make you sign a contract. {she doesn't care for cats either} She would make some little girl very happy.
