Re. NICO CALABRIA
Hi Ellen,
I would like to know if Nico Calabria has a foundation or web site where people can donate funds for his cause with kids in Africa?
LOVE THE SHOW and I have been there once!
Keep up the fun time Ellen and regards to all the staff as well!
Laura
PS. I actually plan to raise funds at a local comedy club to help Nico's cause next June 2008, when I'm turning 40 instead of a party as he gave me the idea the day he was in your show. He thanked a kid for raising money instead of presents for his birthday and I decided to do the same. Thank you very much in advance!! MMMMM, I WONDER IF YOUR STAFF READS THIS NOTES?! I HOPE SO!! =)
It has been reported on fox news by the rescues lawyer (they say they have the email conversations to prove it) that Ellen and the family refused to fill out a new application????????
is this true????
If so Ellen owes more than just an apology..
Ellen
You are an incredlible woman and this is really an awful situation. I have two newfies currently and have adopted many others. I love dogs - but, it seems that the agency could have made some modifications in this case. I feel your pain and emotion. This is just a situation where common sense could have prevailed. The family should have the pup and you should have some peace of mind. God bless.
Cheryl
I would have done the same thing, returning the dog would have been very stressful on any animal, and finding a good loving home is far better a deal for the animal, and isn't that what we should be concerned about?
I believe someones EGO got a little bruised when she was not "listened" to by Ellen. I know that celebrities get away with more than the average person on the street, but really, is this a bad thing? Finding a home for an otherwise homeless little dog?
It shows her EGO is much larger than her heart!
Someone such as this might want to reconsider her "intention" as to why she has this placement center. Doesn't she think she caused trauma for Iggy when she took him away from his little friend??
As anyone knows who is familiar with any responsible/ethical/reputable breeder or rescue acquistion process it is customary (manditory) to screen potential owner/s to include environmental issues and provide for a signed contractual agreement/understanding that should the resonsible person no longer be able to or desire to care for the dog as indicated in the particular arrangement then the dog is to be returned to the source. If a understanding and constract was signed by Ellen then shame on her otherwise shame on the person that handed over the dog to her. I will wait to hear the details of the converstations that took place to make judgement otherwise..
Ellen,
You need to say you are sorry and make a donation to Mutts & Moms. You are a big business using your show to destroy a small business who helps abandoned animals. Shame on you. You should have not taken the dog in the first place if you were not intending to follow the rules of the adoption. It is sad to see someone with your power and media exposure use it to belittle others. You should grow up and take responsibility for your actions. This entire mess is your fault not theirs.
Any one who has ever worked for a rescue group or adopted from a rescue group or has common sense should understand why Ellen is in the wrong here. Ellen had a contract with the rescue group and she broke it. This rescue group has to follow their organizations' rules. These people are selfless, good people who only have the best intentions for the animals they adopt out. They work on a volunteer basis and most of them fund the organizations they volunteer for. Ellen should stop running her mouth about how they did wrong and think about what she has done wrong. Everything that has happened is because she didn't follow what she had a contract to do.
Ellen... stop having a pitty party for yourself, think of the damage you are doing to this rescue organization and shut up.
Ellen,
Please don't let the negative comments that these heartless people have made stop you from continuing to be who you are. Your show is uplifting and encouraging. You seem like a kind-hearted and sincere person. Don't change. What happened just shows that you are humane, like the rest of us. I think a lot of these critizers need to take a good look at themselves and remember the mistakes they have made. None of us are faultless.
Good luck with Iggy.
Tonya
aimee get a life... she was trying to do whats right...those people at mutts and moms should have just let the new family fill out the adoption papers... they were soooooooo wrong...ellen would never hurt anything or anyone...hang in there ellen we all love you
to AIMEE: grow up, go to school, and stop sucking your thumb or whatever pacifier you use. when you know about life then post your remark.
Ellen,
I have always been a fan, but I am extremely disappointed with the way you have handled this situation, and I have lost respect for you as a result. I have adopted two dogs through rescue groups and have worked with several rescue groups as a volunteer and "foster mom" to dogs looking for their forever home. All of the rescue groups with which I have been involved include language in their contracts requiring that the dog be returned to the rescue if it cannot remain with its adoptive home. This requirement is in the best interest of the dog, as it increases the dog's chances of finding a safe, permanent home, keeps it from being bounced around, and reduces the emotional trauma to the dog. I understand that you believe you found a great home for Iggy (and you very well may have) -- but think about all of the other people who may not execerise such wise judgment in "re-placing" their adopted pets. That is why the adoption contracts contain such restrictive clauses. The fact that you have used your celebrity to lobby for an exception is truly disappointing. You have now demonstrated that you are no different than the other celebrities whose pictures are splashed across the internet and gossip rags. Your publicity machine has drowned out Mutts & Moms' side of the story and, unfortunately, probably doomed that organization to failure. I just hope that you have not done irreparable harm to all rescue organizations. You owe Mutts & Moms, and all rescue groups, an apology that is as public as your purported meltdown today.
Ellen,
Ignore the negative...focus on the positive, which is what I know you will do. You are AWESOME, loving, giving & amazing...I loved what you did & said on Tues (Mon pm...) & I hope the best for little Iggy. How many of us have signed papers & knew every single word of what we were signing??? Not many, I'm sure. We assume we know, but we trust that all involved have the same interests at heart. You did nothing wrong. I adore you & will sing your praises every chance I get...(even if you don't show the many pics of my gorgeous girls that I've sent you time & again...just kidding)!!! One of your loyal fans forever (OOYLFF)!!! With much support & prayers,
Cathy Williams
Ed, are you serious?
Rather unfortunate really.
You've never had a bad day? Ever?
At least she went on the air... and she said what was on her mind...and she didn't LIE.
The war in Iraq is a serious matter, yes, but it's covered on other stations 24/7... it's important that every now and again someone reminds us that there's problems happening on our side of the world too... and animal welfare issues are amongst them...
Lay off.
I do not watch this show but since the NBC evening news seemed to think her doggy performance on her own show ranked with the Iraq war, the economy, the environment, the presidential election, and world news in general I can only say that if she is unable to control herself well enough to host the show with a trace of dignity then she should stay of the air until she can regain her missing composure. If she goes on air she should behave in a responsible manner - it's called potty-training 101!
all you people are idiots for talking crap about ellen. have you seen her show? she is the most caring, compassionate women. how dare you try to belittle someone who does so much for others? get a life!
Love from Oregon!
I was shocked to read my fellow Oregonian’s words! This is a horrible situation that has been blown WAY out of proportion! I can't believe the strong words that this has generated. To think people could talk like this to fellow human beings is sickening. I truly believe that some of you writing this comments just want your 15 min of fame. How could these hurtful words help the situation?
I wouldn’t have wrote myself but “Disgusted in Oregon” made me feel compelled to write. Not even gutsy enough to sign with a name…you have to associate your state instead.
I hope this publicity dies down soon and later we hear that Iggy’s story has a happy ending.
Holly
